Loving and Caring For Animals |
Proverbs 12:10 2-24-21, Whosoever is righteous will have kind regard for the life or the care of animals, whether they are pets or livestock. Clearly God's word shows that merciful and compassionate care given to our animals is very pleasing in His sight. People who give humane treatment to animals is righteous in God’s sight. However that doesn’t mean they can be forgiven for their sin by the good works of having regard for the proper care & treatment of animals. Our righteousness & salvation only comes from forgiveness and the life changing event of turning to the Savior Jesus Christ (Luke 13:3; John 3:3, 7; Acts 4:12, 14:6; 2 Corinthians 5:21). | Bible verses about kindness to animals: Deuteronomy 25:4 “You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain.” Proverbs 27:23 “Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.” Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Luke 14:5 “And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” |

Why does my cat lay on the other cat? The female cat will sometimes be laying down in a box or in it's bed and the male cat likes to come over and walk on her and lay right on top of her. She will hiss and "cry", seems to be agitated... | I have several pairs that do this all the time. They are very much bonded to each other. The only thing is that they never object. After all, it is like a warm blanket on the cat that is on the bottom, and cats love warmth. |
Why Do Dogs Roll in Smelly Stuff? Veterinarians and behaviorists are not entirely sure why dogs roll in smelly things, but they do have a few ideas. Whatever the reason, one thing is certain: the last thing we want is to share their disgusting discoveries; not easy to avoid. | One of the most widely known theories is that dogs do this to cover their own scent, hiding from prey or other predators. Interesting that the Lord God almighty created animals with innate behaviors ... how else could it have happened that ALL dogs do it and no human trained them ... not even their parents? |
7 Ways Dogs Are Good for Your Health 12-6-20, AARP -- Dogs don't just have a hold on our heart, they can also keep it healthy by getting you on the move. Studies have shown that dog owners have a lower risk of high blood pressure, and a 2013 report issued by the American Heart Association concluded that owning a dog is most likely linked to a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease. As you age, the things that previously occupied your time fall away. | Caring for an animal can help make you feel needed and wanted. They also add structure to your day. “You have to get up in the morning to feed the dog, right?” Marks says. “That dog needs you.” The interaction and companionship that a dog provides can also ward off feelings of isolation and loneliness, which, in turn, can lead to depression. |

Silkworms: Amazing Miracle from God
Spiders and at least 18 different orders of insects make silk.
- Silkworms are the larvae from silk moths (Bombyx mori).
- They produce silk fibers—water-insoluble filament from glands—to create cocoons; humans simply unravel the cocoons back into strings.
- Domesticated silkworms tolerate human handling and massive crowding and are totally dependent on humans for survival.
- Silk fibers were used to make clothing by the Longshan period (3500–2000 BCE).
Archaeological evidence indicates that the use of cocoons of the silkworm species Bombyx to produce cloth began at least as early as the Longshan period (3500–2000 BC). More here
Flannel Moths Become Toxic 'Toupee' or 'Puss Caterpillars'
The Most Venomous Caterpillar in the U.S. Invades Virginia
9-16-14, National Geographic -- University of Florida entomologist Don Hall reports that these insects may look soft, their outer comb-over (which some have compared to a toupee) hides small, extremely toxic spines that prick and remain in victim's skin. (More about venom here) Mr Hall said: “A puss caterpillar sting feels like a bee sting, only worse. The pain immediately and rapidly gets worse and can even make your bones hurt.” Some have been hospitalized. Also, the female flannel moths (what puss caterpillars become as adults) covers her eggs with hairs from the tip of her own abdomen. Strangely they also fling their poop away from their bodies. Hall believes that behavior prevents parasites from being attracted to the feces and potentially harming the caterpillars themselves. Maine, Michigan, Texas and Others See Honey Bee Populations Growing
9-29-20, GoodNewsNetwork -- Recent data from the U.S. Dept of Agriculture show that some states are experiencing Honey Bee colony growth of 70% or more. From Jan 2019 to Jan 2020 there's been a 14% increase of honey bee colonies across the USA. States experiencing the broadest increase in colony growth—Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Maine adding tens of thousands of colonies. This is especially good news as honey bees are are vital for stable, healthy food supplies. They pollinate, helping plants grow, breed and produce food. They do so by transferring pollen between flowering plants and so keep the cycle of life turning. |
The first half of 2020, the United States added roughly 420,000 more colonies to its bee populations than were lost. Thanks to bees we can enjoy a range of foods from fruit, vegetables to coffee and spices. And if you are wearing cotton, that's because the cotton plant your threads came from was pollinated. North Korea's Obese Leader Kim Jong-Un Orders the Forced Confiscation of Citizen's Pet Dogs for Food
North Koreans 'forced to give up pet dogs for restaurant 8-17-20, Sky.com -- Reportedly people in North Korea are being forced to give up their pet dogs so they can be used as dog meat for restaurants. The move by the leader Kim Jong Un is thought to be aimed at appeasing rising discontent among the public amid a dire economic situation in the secretive country, including food shortages and famine. | In July 2020, according to South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un has issued a ban on dogs for pets. He denounced it as "a tainted trend by bourgeois ideology. Authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing them to give them up." Some dogs are being sent to state-run zoos or sold to dog meat restaurants. Dog meat is traditionally popular in China and on the Korean Peninsula, although consumption is on the decline in South Korea. |
Difference Between Dogs & Cats Most loved and admired pets on earth are the mammals: dogs and cats. Cats are mainly carnivorous dogs are omnivorous. Cats in the wild are solitary hunters; this is why cats are very self satisfactory. As long as cats are in their own environment they are apparently happy as it’s hard to tell. In contrast, dogs are pack animals and they are happy in many different environments as long as they have their “pack” with them. | Dogs can be trained fairly quickly, whereas cats are difficult if not impossible to train. Cats can jump and climb to amazing heights regardless of their human trying to stop them. Cats don’t need companions and seldom need bathing, but if long hair, should be brushed regularly. In contrast dogs, especially those with long hair, need frequent grooming and bathing. Dogs are faithful and loyal companions and need lots of love and attention … cats, not so much. |

Biblical truths about animals: God Created Them Animals aren't the product of happenstance or fortuitous natural processes any more than humans are. Genesis 1:24-25 says God created the animals, from the beasts of the earth to the creeping insects. Scripture even tells us that the breath of life resides within them (Genesis 7:15). By virtue of our creation in the image of God, we humans are uniquely special in comparison to all of creation, but that does not mean the rest of creation has no value to God or that He doesn’t enjoy it. | When God created animals, he declared their creation to be “good” (Genesis 1:25, 31). When God considered His creation in totality, He said His creation was “very good” not only in reference to humans. Humans are the crowning achievement of God’s creative activity, and as his image bearers, we possess something of the divine that nothing else in creation possesses, but we should not let that truth cloud our appreciation for the rest of creation or diminish our responsibilities toward it... Elephants Killed Christian Enemies in Odisha, India
Merciful Pastor Helps Homeless Orphaned Children
V 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. V22 You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. V7 Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. V5 God said, “I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress … the widow and the fatherless.”
3-26-20, * -- Reportedly, in 2007 Christian leader in Kandhamal Odisha, India - Pastor Prakash, brought 40 orphaned children into his home, from areas ravaged by disaster. By 2008, radical Hindu locals wanted to kill him. Pastor Prakash reported: “I was bound to leave my housing by evening. I left everything. I went to the forest with the children. By 7:30 they burned down my house.” The next two days were spent deep in the jungle and later in a relief camp, or rehabilitation home. Christian non-government organizations (NGO’s) sent representatives to set up tents and give the newly homeless people food and supplies.
On August 23, 2008, Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda was assassinated in Odisha. Police arrested seven Maoist men. However, the area’s Christian population was blamed saying it was an international conspiracy organized by the church. Christianity was banned and, over a three month period of terror; Christians were commanded to denounce their faith and follow Hinduism or be arrested. While extremist Hindus traveled in murderous groups to small Christian villages tucked deep into the pockets Odisha’s vast mountainous region, survivors heard chants ”Christian dharmo chalibo nahi” [Christian religion will not remain]. The groups killed many Christians who were publicly slaughtered, buried alive or burned. Human rights groups estimate that, by the time the Indian government took control of the situation, over 100 Christians were dead, 300 churches destroyed, 600 homes demolished and 56,000 people homeless.
In 2009 - exactly one year later, at the same time that the Hindu extremists began their rioting and path of destruction and horror; a herd of wild elephants charged through Kandhamal - as they do every year. Although this year they arrived abnormally early and the homes of those responsible for the 2008 riots were completely wiped out as elephants stormed through their communities killing five of the Christian oppressors. Some Christian homes were damaged, but no Christians died.
The animals were later referred to as the “Christian Elephants.”
Examples in scripture where the Lord God used His creation of animals to accomplish His goals:
a donkey Numbers 22:28; a whale Jonah 1:17; ravens 1 Kings 17:3-4; bear 2 Kings 2:23-25 and lions Daniel 6:22.
Although elephants aren't found in scripture … why not in modern day - the Lord used elephants in India?!
11-29-19, MorningStarNews -- The Supreme Court of India issued a decision granting bail to the five Christians from Odisha state falsely accused of killing Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, whose death on Aug. 23, 2008 in Kandhamal District touched off anti-Christian attacks that killed 120 people, destroyed nearly 6,000 homes and displaced thousands...

God's word tells us that a 'happy heart' is good medicine: 1) 1 Timothy 5:23 Don’t drink only water. You ought to drink a little wine for the sake of your stomach because you are sick so often. 2) Matthew 9:12 Jesus said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor–sick people do.” 3) Jeremiah 8:22 Is there no medicine in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why is there no healing for the wounds of my people? |
5) Isaiah 38:21; 2 Kings 20:7 Isaiah had said to Hezekiah’s servants, “Make an ointment from figs and spread it over the boil, and Hezekiah will recover.”
6) Jeremiah 51:8 But suddenly Babylon, too, has fallen. Weep for her. Give her medicine. Perhaps she can yet be healed.
7) Psalm 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits: He continues to forgive all your sins, he continues to heal all your diseases.
8) Revelation 22:2 It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.
9)Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
3-11-20, NBCNews -- Sadly the NCAA [college basketball in the USA] announced that the upcoming "March 2020 Madness" basketball tournaments will severely restrict attendance to only "essential staff and limited family" due to the coronavirus outbreak. Differences Between Dogs & Cats Dogs are pack animals loving company & will never feel bored if humans give attention to it. However, cats love to spend time alone. Dogs love to please their human, but cats love to please themselves. Dogs are more affectionate than cats. Dogs will wag their tail & even their whole body to show affection. A cat will sometimes purr & rub on their human tolerating being smooched, but you will be smooched by the dog! Dogs are happy to see you when it is awaken from sleep, but a cat will just pretend to be sleeping, even if you try to wake it and seems angry to be bothered. | In summary: 1. A dog is a pack animal, and the cat is a loner. 2. Dogs bark, growl and woof. Cats just meow or purr. 3. Dogs need to be cared for, whereas cats are independent animals. 4. Dogs are more affectionate when compared to cats. 5. A dog scares away intruders, whereas a cat will just run for cover. 6. Dogs need a lot of space and they love to run about. On the contrary, cats are very happy in small spaces. |
Two Lions in New Testament
The Apostle John's vision: “One of the elders saith unto me, 'Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof."
2-28-20, * -- Animals have 'communities' ... elephants have a parade, geese have a gaggle, cows have a herd, fish have a school and lions have social units called prides. Some of the oldest paintings in history are in the Chauvet Cave in France containing artwork called the “Gallery of Lions.” [Smithsonian Museum report here]
In the New Testament we find lions—two of them. One is worthy of eternal worship; one is worthy of eternal condemnation.
1. THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH - Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah; His great power is shown and felt in His devotion to creating and sustaining life for the world. Today’s verse is about Him and is part of a greater story in Revelation 5:5; there is a scroll no one in the universe can open and read making the apostle John weep! However, a mighty angel tells him, “Do not weep! The Lion of the Tribe of Judah . . . is able to open the scroll and its seals.” We learn that THIS Lion is worthy because He became a lamb shedding His blood for the salvation of people from every “tribe and language and people and nation.” (Matthew 26:28; Revelation 5:9)
2. THE LION OF DESTRUCTION - The apostle Peter writes about the wicked lion in 1 Peter 5:8, warning: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." This lion is Satan himself and his powers are persecution, pain, confusion, delusion fear, destruction, devouring, consuming and death. [2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; 2 Timothy 4:3]
While Jesus is the Author of Life, Satan is the bringer of death.
One of Life or One of death?
Much like the artwork in those ancient caves, these two lions paint profound pictures about what it means to be human. As men and women, we will devote ourselves to one “pride” or the other: the pride of Jesus or the pride of Satan.
To follow Jesus is obey His commands, share His truth attempting to snatch lost family, friends and acquaintances from the jaws of Hell. Finding strength in selflessness, to be quick to do what’s right, to have a steel backbone against evil and to never run from God’s purpose on our lives.
To follow Satan is to take life, to find strength in selfishness, to have feet quick to do evil, to give in to sin and to flee from God’s call on our lives. Follow the Lord Jesus and live!

China: Water Fowl Army of 100,000 Ducks Headed to Pakistan to Battle Incoming Plague of Locusts
2-27-20, Telegraph.uk -- Chinese officials are on standby to deploy an army of voracious ducks to Pakistan to help their neighbor fight locusts threatening to devour crops. At least 100,000 of the specially raised waterfowl are expected to be sent to Pakistan later this year to combat a desert locust outbreak. Chinese researchers have described the ducks as “biological weapons” and claimed... | ... they can be more effective than pesticide. “One duck is able to eat more than 200 locusts a day,” said Lu Lizhi, a senior researcher with the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences who is in charge of the project. A trial to gauge the ducks' locust-eating prowess would begin in Xinjiang later this year. More here |
What Is The Coldest Temperature Horses Can Tolerate? Do they need blankets? 12-12-18, CowGirlMag -- Most horses can tolerate 0° F or even a little below. This would be without wind and precipitation. With shelter, such as a run-in or stable, your horse can manage in as low as -40° F. Their winter fur is still growing in until roughly December 22nd. If you blanket before that, you could be stunting the growth of the hair. Two horses are in the snow, one with a blanket, one without. Notice the unmelted snow on the unblanketed horse. His fur is working by insulating him. His body heat is not escaping; if his fur did not work the snow would melt immediately... | ...The unblanketed horse has the same amount of unmelted snow on his back as the blanketed one. Eventually since the horse is warmer than the frozen ground the snow will melt on both of them. The problem we humans have when we pat our horses in the winter is that they feel cold to touch, but this is because their fur has insulated them and is keeping all the warmth next to the skin. Horses can have icicles hanging off their fur and be perfectly warm underneath. Cold temperatures require a little more work; however, with proper care, your horse is likely to do just fine this winter! https://www.equisearch.com/discoverhorses/horses-in-cold-weather |
Hummingbirds Drink Nectar for Strength 1-30-20, Hummingbirds live on nectar from flowers and the sugars that are found in specialty feeders of dissolved sugar in water. These tiny birds stock up on the needed fuel they will need for their migration South. Their average weight is 1/8 ounce. Their wings beat between 40 and 80 beats/second. | They breathe approximately 250 times per minute. Their heart rate is an unbelievable 250 beats/min at rest and 1200 beats/min while feeding. During flight they reach up to 63 miles/hour. It is believed that their migration flight to the Caribbean Islands and Mexico cross the Gulf and Atlantic Ocean waters is non-stop flight taking 18-20 hours. 1 Samuel 17:37 |

New Hampshire bill to CRIMINALIZE letting your own dog run around your back yard when the weather is cold
1-16-20, (Natural News) There is an old saying that “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” Sometimes good intentions combined with a lack of knowledge can make for a really toxic combination. An excellent example of this is State Representative Katherine Rogers’ proposed legislation as outlined in New Hampshire House Bill 1389. The bill would impose criminal penalties on pet owners who do not: provide adequate food, water or shelter for their animals. Some elements of the way this legislation is structured reflects a lack of understanding and facts of dogs and weather. A new study published in the Journal Veterinary Dermatology, dogs’ paw pads contain lots of fatty tissue – which doesn’t freeze as easily as other tissues. The blood vessels in dogs’ feet are arranged in a way that lets them act like living heat exchangers: arteries in the paws are very close to networks of tiny veins (venules), facilitating the transfer of heat from venous to arterial blood. When a paw is cooled by contact with frozen ground, warmth from the arteries in the paw is transferred to the venules. This helps keep the paw at a tolerable temperature.
In addition, it warms the blood before it flows back to the body – thus helping keep the dog’s body temperature from falling uncomfortably low. Thank YOU, God!
Why Is My Dog Always Hungry? 1-16-17, It is not a secret to anyone: dogs are naturally greedy; especially when it comes to food.
