Acceptable Sacrifices
“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
 1 Peter 2:5 8-3-20, Henry Morris, PhD -- In the Old Testament theocracy of Israel, it was the responsibility of the Levitical priesthood to be “daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices” in atonement for the sins of the people, and this continued until Jesus Christ “offered one sacrifice for sins for ever” (Hebrews 10:11-12). The old priesthood has now been set aside. Only the sacrifice of Christ and our identification with Him through repentance and faith is acceptable for our salvation. Nevertheless, there is a new priesthood—a spiritual priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices—and it is vital that we who are now His priests offer sacrifices that are acceptable and pleasing to God. Loving His Appearing & Crown of Righteousness
Apostle Paul said: “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
| 2 Timothy 4:8; 1 Corinthians 9:25 8-19-20, Henry Morris, PhD -- It is fascinating to learn that the Lord Jesus Christ has a special reward for all those who “love his appearing.” [Revelation 19:11] The word “appearing” (Greek epiphaneia) can refer to either the first or second advent of Christ, depending on the context. The Apostle Paul urges believers in Christ to be “looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). For “the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ...hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light” (2 Timothy 1:10). Our text for the day (2 Tim 4:8) obviously refers to His Second Coming “at that day,” exhorting us not only to look for - but to love His appearing! At that great day, “the Lord, the righteous judge” will award to those who have loved His appearing a special crown of righteousness. => | <= "We have already received the imputed “gift of righteousness” (Romans 5:17) by His grace and have been “made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). So this crown of righteousness somehow must be (as a wreath encircling the head of a victor in a race) an enveloping glow of divine appreciation for a godly life lived in daily anticipation of the Lord’s return. The apostle John beautifully expressed the way when such a life, loving Christ’s coming, produces a growing righteousness now and perfected righteousness then. “And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence & not be ashamed before Him at His coming....We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. All families have their disagreements...especially during a quarantine….

I am shocked my family was arrested after I told the police to drop all charges months ago. I had a general affidavit of non prosecution notarized today and I spoke with the police chief, who told me I could not do anything until Monday morning [August 17] and my daughter, son and her boyfriend have to stay in jail over the weekend. I am extremely upset... this is not what I wanted to happen. I think they have a lot bigger fish to fry… makes me think this might have been done to prevent her from coming out with some political information she is covering. There was no reason for this."

However, our Lord Jesus has a right to expect that those who name His name have an underlying confidence in Him. God expects His children to be so confident in Him that in any crisis they are the ones who are reliable. Yet, too often our trust is only in God up to a certain point, then we turn back to the elementary panic-stricken prayers of those people who do not even know God. We come to our wits’ end, showing that we don’t have even the slightest amount of confidence in Him or in His sovereign control of the world. To us He seems to be asleep, and we can see nothing but giant, breaking waves on the sea ahead of us. What a stinging pain must have shot through the disciples as their Lord hollered at them: “…O you of little faith!” They surely thought to themselves, “We missed the mark again!” --> |  And what a sharp pain will go through us if we suddenly realize that we could've produced complete and utter joy in the heart of Jesus by remaining absolutely confident in Him. There are times when whatever storms are in our lives we are gifted with abilities to handle it alone.
