Mary of Bethany, sister of Lazarus was a woman who cultivated deep, spiritual inner thoughts; she was busier internally than she was externally. She loved to sit quietly and peacefully at the Lord Jesus Christ’s feet learning of His Truths. She, more than any other individual in the New Testament, was associated with His feet, speaking of her humility, love and reverence. She cried at His feet and anointed His Holy head with oil; she was also an evangelist:

"(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

"Many of the Jews which came to Mary and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on Him."
John 11:2, 45
