CA: Guns Traded for Gasoline
Californians Turn in Guns for $50 Worth of Gasoline
California: $50 gas cards given by police to citizens turning in weapons [more here]
5-23-22, Washington Times - California is afflicted with some of the most severe and crippling gas prices in the USA. On 5/18/22 the average price for a gallon of regular gas in the state was $6.06. This has motivated many gun owners to turn over 134 firearms to the Sacramento Police Dept in exchange for $50 gas cards - that in most cars - wouldn't even fill their tanks! Some of the weapons violated California’s draconian gun laws; each weapon received one card. At least one individual turned in what the police described as an “assault weapon” for $50 of gas. Judging from the imagery of the haul shared by the department, some of the guns were worth far more than $50 that they could probably get from the local pawn shop.
