For the year 2025 the Jewish holiday of "Hanukkah" is celebrated and observed for eight days; beginning at sundown on December 14, 2025. It's also called the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS.
The celebration is based on the Maccabean Revolt and the rededication of the ancient Jewish temple in Jerusalem.

The most detailed account is recorded in the First and Second Books of Maccabees that’s not included in the Holy Bible.
However, it does appear in Jewish text of the Talmud which is a collections of oral laws based on the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Holy Bible’s Old Testament.

They were not fleeing persecution and they were not homeless. When they arrived there was not enough housing for all traveling citizens (Luke 2:1). The fact that “there was no room in the inn” (Luke 2:7) did not make them homeless any more than a family that takes a trip is by definition homeless if they encounter “No Vacancy” signs.

11-13-25, People.com -- An unidentified woman was stunned when an acquaintance asked to borrow her table, chairs, dishes, glasses and decorations for Thanksgiving and didn’t invite her knowing she would be alone for the holiday.

Stunned she reached out to social media searching for solace. In her post, she described how this friend - even though she had only met them once – last year asked if she and her husband could join her dinner - the woman graciously agreed.

Fast forward to today – now she’s asking to borrow the accoutrements for HER dinner without inviting the potential provider of the dinner setup.

How could the friend be so callous as her request felt presumptuous, especially given the logistics involved? Reddit members responded:

"If you don’t have table chairs, plates, and glasses, you cannot host. Period. Borrowing one small item or a folding table is one thing. To borrow an entire kitchen and dining room is another, unspeakably rude thing."
