8-20-19, Express.Co.Uk – On Aug 19, 2019, Pres Macron & Pres Putin met at Macron's official holiday island residence in Fort Bregançon in southern France. The French leader is keen to show Moscow it’s not ostracized despite being kicked out of the G7 after its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. However, at the press conference as they took questions the Russian President was quick to dismiss the importance of the G7's existence - President Putin said:
“Now on G7? Well, there is no G7. How can we go back to an organization that doesn’t exist? Today is G7, but we cannot go back to G8 because G8 doesn’t exist. There is no G8. But we never say no. It was Russia’s turn to host the G8 and our partners didn’t come. Well, they are welcome anytime. Please, even as G7. But there are other international institutions that play a significant role in international affairs. Take the G20. You have big economic powerhouses like China, India and many others. They count for almost 90 percent of the global economy so we really value these full format platforms. And that’s why we actively cooperate.”
The French President appeared to be cringing at the obvious dig launched by the Russian leader over his exclusion to the international forum.
It's claimed that Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed forces have killed around 13,000 people since 2014. …Russia denies the accusation saying that Ukraine is not honoring commitments under the ceasefire agreement.
One French spokesperson said that “Pres Macron's decision to invite the Russian leader was a very useful attempt to get France, and possibly even Europe, out of an impasse and to end a sterile war of opposing positions that’s been going on for years."
Pres Putin’s visit came days before world leaders, including US Pres Trump and the new UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, gather for the August 24-26, 2019 Group of Seven (G7) summit in the southwestern French town of Biarritz. More here

Lessons for America From India's War Against Muslim Illegal Migrants

8-1-19, * -- India and Bangladesh are divided not only by a border, but by religion. India has an 80% Hindu majority and a rising 13% Muslim minority. Bangladesh has a 90% Muslim majority. And the tide of Muslim migration from Bangladesh to India is rising.
India has spent decades building fences, topping them with barbed wire, and installing lights. The lights are there so that the guards can see. Unlike America, there are guards, they have guns and they shoot.
What makes America’s border different from those of so many other nations isn’t the lack of fencing. Smugglers, traffickers and assorted criminals can often find weak points in any security setup. In most countries, the defense of the border is seen as a national security issue backed by real firepower.
America’s Border Patrol has less than 20,000 people; India’s Border Security Force has 257,363 people. It’s a paramilitary organization with an intelligence network, ten artillery units, air and marine wings, canine and even camel units. And India's guard's weapons aren’t just there for show.
In over a decade over 1,000 illegal infiltrators have been killed trying to enter India from Bangladesh.
[..snip] India’s National Register of Citizens is being used to clarify who belongs in the country and who doesn’t. Those who are unable to prove their citizenship potentially face the Foreigners’ Tribunals, courts that ask the accused to prove their citizenship. If the illegals fail to do so, they can be sent to prison and then deported. If they try to dodge the courts, the machinery of the system will move forward anyway.
India is also moving against the 40,000 strong Rohingya illegal Muslim population which have been a problem in that country, as well as in Myanmar. India is also making it clear that it will respect legitimate refugees by providing sanctuary to Hindu and Buddhist refugees fleeing Islamic violence.
There are important lessons from India's effort for the United States in our immigration challenges.
India’s Modi has been dubbed a natural counterpart to President Trump. Under Modi, the BJP understood that it had to run on migration issues to gain political sanction for a crackdown. Popular support from Indians allowed the government to ignore protests by leftist activist groups like Amnesty and Human Rights Watch, the domestic opposition and even the United Nations.
India understood that border security alone would never be enough. Not unless the illegal infiltrators were made to understand that there was no future for them even if they did make it across the border.
Building a border wall is a partial answer. But the real answer lies in using military force to secure the border, ending the processing of asylum requests, and distinguishing Americans from illegal aliens. India’s example shows that these things can be done. And if India can do them, America certainly can. That winning argument in India, is a winning argument in America.

"Sweden is at War"
- In January 2019, a so-called unaccompanied minor from Afghanistan, Sadeq Nadir, sought to murder several people in the city by ramming into them with a stolen car. He wanted to wage jihad and become a martyr. He told the police that his intention had been to kill. The event was initially classified as an attempt at a terrorist crime, but then changed to a charge of ten attempted murders. Although Sadeq had admitted that his intention was to kill; the court argued that he had not been driving "fast enough" to cause a concrete risk of death, the court did not find that he had acted from any religious terrorist motives. He was convicted of merely causing danger to others and threatening them.

- On June 30, 2019 more gang related incidents; three shootings in three different suburbs in Stockholm. Two people, one of whom had been shot in the head, died. just in Stockholm, eleven people have already been shot to death -- the same number as for all of 2018. On July 1, 2019 National Police Chief Anders Thornberg said that the situation is "extraordinarily serious". He said: "For every young man who gets shot, there are 10-15 new ones ready to step in. … Swedes will have to get used to the shootings for the foreseeable future.”
- In 2018, Sweden experienced a record number of lethal shootings, 306 in all. Forty-five people were killed and 135 injured nationwide, most deaths occurring in Region South, where Malmö is located. In the first six months of 2018 almost every other shooting took place in a "vulnerable area", also known as no-go zones.
- In 2017 it was disclosed 61 ‘no-go’ zones encompassing 200 criminal networks, consisting of an estimated 5,000 criminals; majority non-Western immigrants and their descendants. Returnees, sympathizers for Islamic terrorist groups such as the ISIS, al Qaeda and al-Shabaab, and representatives of Salafist-oriented mosques, contribute to tensions between these groups and other residents in the vulnerable areas.
"Plan your itinerary - know your area...try to minimize the time from when you park your bike / car until you enter [the destination]. Before leaving a building, look out first and make an assessment of the surroundings to avoid getting into an unwanted situation... keep away from people who are considered potentially threatening or dangerous and increase the distance if there are no other people nearby".
The municipal government's guidelines on safety seem appropriate for a civil war zone, such as Beirut once was, rather than for the once-peaceful city of Malmö.
Car fires, frequent and widespread, are just one of the new aspects of living in the formerly idyllic city of Lund. One university spokesperson said about car burning: "I definitely think that these are young people who have not found their place in society, who know they are not accepted. …Car fires are not just a way of showing their displeasure; but a way of showing that they are frustrated, desperate and angry."
Swedish author Björn Ranelid disagreed he wrote in Expressen: "Sweden is at war and it is the politicians who are responsible. None of these criminals is starving or lacking in access to clean water. They have a roof over their heads and they have been offered free schooling for nine or twelve years. They do not live in dilapidated houses. All of them have had a higher material standard in their homes than several thousands of the children and young people who grew up at Ellstorp in Malmö where I lived with my parents and two siblings, in 47 square meters in two small rooms and a kitchen from 1949 to 1966."
"Sweden still has serious societal problems; but even though we can think of old times as an idyll with red cottages and green meadows, very few things were better before. I think we should celebrate just that, how much we have achieved as a country. We have built a strong country, where we take care of each other. Where society takes responsibility and no man is left alone."
Sadly, many Swedes probably feel terribly left alone in a country that increasingly resembles a war zone.

Two blasts reported by Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology around 10:30 a.m. were unexpected and particularly powerful sending ash/smoke 6,000 ft into the sky and lava embers of fire raining down on the popular tourist spot. 6-27-19, Victor Davis Hanson -- President Trump recently ordered and then called off a retaliatory strike against Iran for destroying a U.S. surveillance drone. The United States asserts that the drone was operating in international space. Iran claims it was in Iranian airspace.
Antiwar critics of Trump's Jacksonian rhetoric turned on a dime to blast him as a weak, vacillating leader afraid to call Iran to account. However, Trump supporters countered that the president had shown Iran a final gesture of patience — and cleared the way for a stronger retaliation should Iran foolishly interpret his one-time forbearance as a weakness to be exploited rather than as magnanimity to be reciprocated.
The charge of Trump being an appeaser was strange coming from leftist critics, especially given Trump's past readiness to bomb Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for allegedly using chemical weapons, his willingness to destroy ISIS through enhanced air strikes, and his liberation of American forces in Afghanistan from confining rules of engagement.
The truth is that Iran and the United States are now engaged in a great chess match. But the stakes are not those of intellectual gymnastics. The game is no game, for it involves the lives, and possible deaths, of thousands.
The latest American-Iranian standoff is not like that of 1979-1981, when theocratic revolutionaries removed the Shah, stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, and took American hostages for 444 days — and humiliated America. Iran fears there are now no such American liabilities. Forty years later, America has no presence in Iran. It has long since given up on bringing Tehran back into the Western fold.
There are no Americans in Iran to be kidnapped and no Iranian allies inside Iran to be saved. Iran has no leverage over the United States, at least not as it did in 1979. [..snip]
Israel has forged new ties with China, Russia, and the European Union, and renewed its traditionally close relationship with the United States. Iran's neighbors in the Arab world are either in a mess or clandestinely allied with Israel. The Palestinian Authority and Hamas have never been weaker vis-a-vis Israel.
Time is on the American side. Each day Iran grows weaker and poorer, and the U.S. stronger and richer. [..]
If Tehran preemptively attacks an American ship or plane, it will be met by a disproportionate response, preferably one aimed not at civilian infrastructure, but at the Iranian military hierarchy, the Revolutionary Guard and the theocratic elite.
Otherwise, the Trump administration can sit back and monitor Iran's international ostracism and economic isolation while remaining unpredictable and enigmatic, ready to hit back hard at any attack on Americans but without being suckered into an optional war with Iran in the perennial Middle East quagmire. - In a Capitalist Society, a sharp divide is created between the wealthiest citizens and the poorest, however with the wealthiest owning the majority of the nation's resources with everyone having incentive and desire to succeed and be wealthy. Limitations don’t exist and reward comes to those who go beyond the minimum. Owners are allowed to keep the excess production they earn; and competition occurs naturally fostering advancement.
Other linchpins of communism are enumerated in the Manifesto:
1) Abolition of property ownership
2) a heavy progressive income tax
3) abolition of all rights of inheritance
4) confiscation of property
5) centralization of credit
6) centralization of transportation
7) centrally planned economy
8) obligation to work
9) abolishing distinction between towns and country

Since World War I, America has been on the slippery slope toward socialism. The goal of Soviet Russia was to infiltrate American values with the destructive social goals of the Communist Manifesto. Former Soviet KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov, who defected from the Soviet Union in 1970, was interviewed in 1984 about Soviet infiltration methods. He said that by 1970 the Soviet Union already had infiltrated the US through brainwashing left-leaning people in the news media, entertainment, politics, business, education, and religion. Progressives are the new communists. Government replaces God.

5-24-19, Firefighters in Israel surveyed the damage caused by massive wildfires that threatened Kibbutz Harel and almost wiped out Mevo Modi'im, in addition to many other blazes; unseasonably high temperatures reaching 48C [104 Degrees F.] maintain fear that more yet to come. Investigation surmise that the Harel fire likely caused by a falling electric cable in a nearby town; six homes were damaged there. In Mevo Modi'im, 40 of the town's 50 homes were damaged and thousands of residents from those two regions spent the night at hospitality centers. Emergency services battled multiple wildfires throughout the country on Thursday.

Exposed: Eight Years of Media Lies About the Syrian Civil War - Reporter for Der Spiegel, Claas Relotius May Face Charges
- Syria: The 8 yr civil war story began with a group of boys who were reportedly detained and tortured after one of them spray-painted anti-government graffiti that international media outlets from CNN to Qatar’s Al Jazeera, Time & more broadcasted. As the story goes one boy scrawled “It’s Your Turn, Doctor” and started the cycle of violence that led to the fighting in Daraa & across Syria; the age and name of the boy has changed many times:
- in 2013 Daily Mail reported he was Bashir Abazed, 15 yrs old.
- In 2013 Germany it was 15 yr old Bashir Abazed and in 2016 he was Abdulrahman al-Krad
- in 2016 Canada’s Reuters reported it was 16 yr old boy named Mohammed
- in 2017 Globe & Mail reported it was Naief Abazid, 14 yrs old.
- in 2018 Al Jazeera reported it was Mouawiya Syasneh, 14 yrs old.
- Egypt: The Arab Spring originated by the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar, Obama administration and some of its European allies and the overthrow of the targeted governments.
- Tunisia: A fake story of a street vendor who was slapped by a policewoman and his family blames his bizarre reaction of setting himself on fire, on a sexist reaction to being humiliated by a woman.
Reportedly, there are at least six boys who started the Syrian war with that grafitti. Some of them are actually men. They all have different names. Some have different ages. Even the accounts of the ages of their friends who were also there, ranging from 9-year-olds to adults, vary wildly between different stories from major media outlets.
In their sensationalist stories about how the Syrian Civil War began, media outlets failed to even acknowledge that other outlets had published claims that fundamentally contradicted their own. Instead, journalists who claimed to have interviewed the boy[s] in cafes, safe houses or ruined cities posing smilingly for photos or hiding their faces were celebrated and even honored.
Reporting on a war in another country is tricky, the media insists on the right to fact check conservatives and erase them from social media, but fails at the most elementary levels fact checking when it comes to its own stories.
Claas Relotius was only the latest media journalist to wade into the story of the boy who started the war. He was lying; but it was a lie so commonplace in his industry that it was normative behavior. The 6 boys’ story is undeniable proof that the media cannot be trusted to police its own facts, let alone those of its political opponents. That it is not an industry of facts, but an assembly line of propaganda. And that it’s reporting on major issues, including wars in other countries, is quite often fake news.
If you don’t believe that, ask the media how the Syrian Civil War started. Then ask if his name was Mohamed, Naief, Bashir, Mouawiya, or Abdulrahman.

Four weeks later, nearly 60 percent of the population supported him. Who is Juan Guaidó? He is a 35-year-old Socialist activist politician now interim president of Venezuela recognized by most Western countries. Guaidó — a low-key, baseball-loving engineer elected to congress in 2015. Perhaps the most crucial event in Guaidó’s ascension was a decision on Jan. 4 2019 by Canada and a dozen Latin American countries not to recognize Maduro when he was sworn in for a second term Jan. 10, 2019. Julio Borges, an influential Venezuelan opposition leader exiled in Colombia said, “They [world leaders] didn’t recognize Maduro, so it was clear executive powers had to be transferred to the legislature.” The next day, the legislature swore in its new leader: Juan Gerardo Guaidó. Feb 7, 2019 - Falcon & Bertucci were Maduro's opponents in the May 2018 election. Falcón was an obscure politician (like Guaidó was). After Falcón lost and Maduro won a second term as Venezuela's president, he insisted on a new vote – why wasn't Falcón recognized?
Wikipedia: As of March 2019, more than 80% of Venezuelans support Guaido in polls as acting president when just three months earlier 97% never heard of him. Article 233 of the Constitution of Venezuela provides that, "when the president-elect is absolutely absent before taking office, a new election shall take place [...] and until the president is elected and takes office, the interim president shall be the president of the National Assembly." After what he and others described as the "illegitimate" Jan 10, 2019 Maduro inauguration, Guaidó challenged Maduro's claim to the presidency. The National Assembly declared Guaidó assumed the powers and duties of president and continued plan to remove Maduro. The US, Canada, Brazil and several Latin American countries support Guaidó as acting president.

Russia, China and Cuba support Nicholas Maduro as legitimate president of Venezuela and consider the action taken by Juan Guaido a coup. Guaidó denies the coup allegations, saying peaceful volunteers back his movement. In December 2018, Guaidó traveled to Washington D.C. where he met with OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, and then on 14 January to Colombia for a Lima Group meeting, in which Maduro's mandate was rejected. As of February 2019, Guaidó is recognized as the acting president of Venezuela by 54 countries.

4-24-19, BBC -- In Norway emergency services try to extinguish forest fires raging in the south of the country as 100s of homes evacuated in the vicinity of the town of Sokndal. Wildfires have been raging since Tuesday, 4/24/19. Police say the fires are still out of control. April is very early for forest fires in Norway, and experts have warned of a dramatic increase across the continent. Wildfires are in Sweden, Germany, Norway and the UK. Norway's minister for public safety, Ingvil Smines Tybring-Gjedde said the number of fires this year is higher than the average from the last 10 years.
