In 1940 America the First Electronic Computer was first implemented by John Vincent Atanasoff of Iowa. [..] In 1972 a lawsuit ensued arguing who was the original inventor. After a 10-year court case, the judge ruled in favor of Honeywell, Corp specifying that although Atanasoff had designed and demonstrated the basic digital principles of the modern computer no patent had been filed.
