| [1] On July 4, 2024 the Roman Catholic Church excommunicated Catholic Priest & Bishop Carlo Vigano former apostolic nuncio to the USA and great accuser of Pope Francis in the McCarrick scandal. He was found guilty of schism for refusing to recognize Pope Francis’ authority. In August 2018 the US church was reeling in its sexual abuse scandal of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, accused of molesting a minor in Pennsylvania ... investigation showed decades of abuse and cover-ups. Viganò accusing him and Vatican of covering for McCarrick. The pope has also put himself at odds with conservatives and traditionalists by championing homosexual marriage, abortion, illegal migrant rights, the fight against climate change and condemning the excesses of capitalism. | Viganò's behaviors are as the Apostle Paul in a sort of way - he's taken up the necessary mantle of opposing Pope Francis' behavior to his face and publicly. While some wonder why this wasn't done privately, the answer: "How could he approach Pope Francis privately? As he has steadfastly refused to engage his questioners." Archbishop Viganò still has that "old-time religion." He takes seriously Jesus' admonitions regarding Judgment Day. Some oppose his "strong language."
