1-8-25, NYPost -- Soul-crushing footage shows the devastation caused by California wildfires ... By noon local time, the blaze had burned 11,802 acres, just hours after it was under 3,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. 

The fire has become the most destructive in Los Angeles city history. The "Palisades Fire" has spread at a rate of over five football fields a minute. The Fire began on 1-7-25, Tuesday and in a little over three hours had already spread across at least 770 acres and soon covered over 2,900 acres. Why are the LA wildfires so bad?
1-8-25, Guardian -- Ten of the largest California wildfires have occurred in the last twenty years, with five of these fires occurring in 2020 alone. The fires have quickly spread by fierce winds [up to 100 mph]. California’s cooler months often bring what are known as Santa Ana winds, which are the strong, dry gusts blown in from the US’s vast western desert interior to southern California.

How do the people escape the current fires surrounding the populated area?
