Russian warplane crashed during training [More here]
7/1/25, RT.com -- Reports from Russian media, “during landing, the release system of one of the landing gear legs failed.” The two pilots made several attempts at fixing the issue while in flight, before deciding to abandon the aircraft. The plane was directed away from populated areas and the pilots safely ejected. The SU-34 were not carrying any ordnance and the incident resulted in no casualties or damage on the ground.

Florida Budget Slimmed By Gov DeSantis Line-Item Veto
5-6-25, USANews [excerpt*] -- Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida recently signed the state's new budget. After he used his line-item veto power cutting spending projects - it came in at $115 billion; appx $4 billion less than the state's current budget, and nearly $600 million less than the legislature's proposed budget. The final budget includes a 2% raise for state workers, 10% to 15% pay hike for state law enforcement, $1.3 billion a year in tax cuts for families and businesses and $4 billion to fund scholarships to private and religious schools. 

Gov DeSantis said: “I think what you see in this budget an example of a very fiscally responsible state. We’re meeting the needs of the state of Florida that I think most people want us to be focusing on. We’re not, you know, frittering it away.” Many Democrats supported the budget.
