As a woman with two adult sons, I can only imagine how my boys would have manipulated me and I would have succumbed to their machinations. Thankfully, they were strongly disciplined: one is now a professor at university and the other is a construction general contractor. I fully give credit to their father. Also, I was encouraged by God's word where it says about spanking [corporal punishment]: “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” – Proverbs 13:24 “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far away.” – Proverbs 22:15 “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish them with the rod, they will not die.
