 11-14-24, Democrat Lyndon Johnson was the USA's 36th president - filling in after President Kennedy was assassinated [1963-1969]. He left office as one of the least liked Presidents in American history. His administration passed a large amount of legislation; much designed to protect the nation's land, air, water & wilderness - some would argue it was a land grab.
He's responsible for many of the government funded social programs alienating tax revolters. He also was in charge during the horrific loosing Vietnam war where thousands of Americans died and when soldiers returned home were badly disrespected. At a 1962 Texas commencement speech he said: 'He who controls the weather, controls the world.' Apparently he believed that Christian duty required supporting those who would not work - albeit the scriptures clearly admonish against laziness promoting goodness of work.
