12-30-22, Before the Lord Jesus crucifixion and death He took Peter, James & John to Gethsemane telling them of His exceeding sorrow. He asked them to watch while He went to pray and was horrified at the sight of all the sins of the people coming upon Him; at the black storm of wrath that was gathering thick over Him; at the sword of justice which was brandished against Him. Because of His great love He accepted the curses of the righteous law, which like so many thunderbolts of vengeance were directed at Him. He must have been additionally sorrowful finding His faithful disciples three times asleep when He asked them to watch. Mark 14:33-38, Matthew 26:37
