ARAB NATIONS WANT IRAN'S INFLUENCE IN SYRIA STOPPED & WANT TO NORMALIZE RELATIONS WITH ASSAD |
10-19-21, Aljazeera -- Absent an unforeseen event, experts say Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad is not going to lose powerany and many Arab countries want to normalize relations. However, Biden’s Sec of State Antony Blinken doesn’t support normalizing ties with Syria saying: “What we have not done and what we do not intend to do is to express any support for efforts to normalize relations or rehabilitate Mr Assad, or lifted a single sanction on Syria or changed our position to oppose the reconstruction of Syria until there is irreversible progress toward a political solution.” Joshua Landis, Dir of Ctr of Middle East Studies at the University of Oklahoma, said the US faces a “dilemma” in its Syria policy. Under Obama’s influence, the war in Syria started in 2011 after Arab Spring protests swept the Islamic nations. The violence killed hundreds of thousands of Arab people and displaced millions. Opposition advocates and rights groups accuse the Assad’s Syrian government of rampant human rights abuses, including using chemical weapons against Syrians. [Many report the falsehood of the reports that Assad killed his own citizens. – BBC (1)] Landis said: "They’ve [USA] got themselves in this terrible position where they’re upholding a Syria foreign policy that’s based on 10 years of bad assumptions and wrong analysis, which is that Assad was going to fall. And how do you back away from that without losing face? You can’t. You have to lose face at some level and you have to hurt your allies that you’ve built up over 10 years.” Landis also said the grim economic outlook in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq is forcing the Biden administration to make some concessions around enforcing what he called the “maximum pressure regime” on Syria. | Many Arab countries previously opposed to Assad NOW want to normalize relations: UAE, Jordan, Egypt to name a few. However, the threat of USA mandated sanctions remains a deterrent for Arab firms looking to do business in Syria. Landis also said: “That’s a tricky position to be in because if you’re a businessman in the Gulf or Jordan, you don’t want to mess with American laws because you never know when they’re going to hammer you.” Several Arab officials have called on Biden to ease sanctions against Syria. Landis said Arab states, convinced that Assad will not be toppled, want to get involved in the Syrian economy and try to help counterbalance the Iranian influence in the country. “I think the Arab world has come to the conclusion: This is not good for us; we need to help the Syrian economy grow and give Assad alternatives to Iran,” Landis said. When Blinken delivered his remarks against normalization with Syria, he was at a joint news conference with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates [UAE], the Gulf country that has been the most open about restoring ties with Syria. One Arab said that Washington may try to dissuade allies from working with Assad, but for many the normalization train is already moving. Some items have actually have become less expensive: Chicken -3%; Tomatoes -1%. Yippee! | Opinion: Powell and Biden are rolling the dice on inflation and growth 11-22-21, Market Watch -- Wasting capital seems to be a preoccupation in Washington these days. [..] Building those expectations into annual business plans would create self-sustaining wage-price spirals.GDP growth and inflation importantly depend on labor force and productivity growth. During the 2010s, those grew at a respectable pace and President Donald Trump’s program of lower taxes and deregulation accomplished 2.5% growth. | Many business leaders sense surging labor and material cost pressures are becoming structural — not transitory. [1] [1] What is a transitory period? Transitory means only lasting for a short period of time: |
WORLD HEALTH ORG’s [WHO] original definition of a pandemic from May 1, 2009, specified simultaneous epidemics worldwide “with enormous numbers of deaths and illnesses.”
12-1-21, Yes, the Covid [corona China] virus is real ... BUT ... calling it a 'pandemic' is false as the mortality rate is only about one percent ... pandemics - GENUINE pandemics - have a very high mortality rate. Delusion and corruption are ruling the nations.
