Revelation 21:23-26 New Jerusalem Series, #6: Inhabitants The occupants and residents of the New Jerusalem are the Father, King Jesus Christ and there'll be angels at the gates (Revelation 21:12, 22). The population of the city will be the Lord Jesus' redeemed and born again children. Jesus said: "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." John 3:7   If you believe that Jesus, was born of the Virgin Mary, is the Son of God, died, rose again and have asked God to forgive your sins saving you by His grace, then you are a citizen of the New Jerusalem.
“God has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Ephesians 2:6-8 The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life” (Revelation 22:17). New Jerusalem Series, #5: Location  We learn in Isaiah and Revelation that almighty God does a complete make-over of heaven and earth. Apparently, the 'location' is separate from the old earth.
"Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: the former shall not be remembered" Isaiah 65:17 In his vision the apostle John sees a glimpse of the new city: “I John saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, they shall be His people, God Himself shall be with them and be their God." Revelation 21:1-3 New Jerusalem Series, #4: River & Tree John's memory of his vision of the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. John said, " The angel shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him: And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads." Revelation 22:1-2   Those people whose names are recorded in the Lamb’s book of life are free to enter the Holy City; they possess life eternal and belong to their faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is The Lamb, who bought them with His blood (Rev. 5:9), will never blot out their names from His book (Revelation 3:5) and will grant them the right to the tree of life and entrance into the city:  "Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:14 New Jerusalem Series, #3: Gates of Pearl  The City Gates Will Be Open Historically nations have always practiced wise security for their people. Walls and gates; but in the New Jerusalem the gates will be open. For security purposes people usually lock the doors to their homes; and cities with walls and gates normally shut them at night. However, since there will be no night in the New Jerusalem and all evil will have been eradicated, these gates will always stay open. "And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there." Revelation 21:25 The unredeemed are a long way outside the city’s walls and never come into the holy city: "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:14-15  New Jerusalem Series, #2: No Temple, Foundation, Walls, Gates, Street  "I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it." Revelation 21:22 Gates: Names of Israeli Tribes Foundation: Names of Jesus' Apostles The foundation, walls and streets: "wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." Rev 21:12-14   "The twelve gates were each one pearl and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass."
Revelation 21:21 The twelve apostles and twelve tribes of Israel are represented in the gates and foundations. This should settle beyond any question the matter of the inclusion of Old Testament saints.
