Interesting But Obscure People of the Bible, Series #2: Jabez
Most people have heard of Abraham, David, Paul and Peter; there are many many more we can learn about in the Bible's sixty-six books that cover so many years of history. Here are a few more and not all of them are saints:
Jabez is only mentioned two times in the Bible.
First when he was described as an honorable man
who's Mother suffered pain at his birth and
when he prayed to God for land.
1. 1Chronicles 4:9 "Jabez was more honorable than his
brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez,
saying, "Because I bare him with sorrow."
2. 1Chronicles 4:10 "Jabez called on the God of Israel,
saying, "Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be
with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil,
that it may not grieve me!"
And God granted him that which he requested.
Jabez was honored because of his relationship with God. God had a purpose for Israel and He had a purpose for Jabez.
To have our prayers answered; before we pray, we must:
1. be in a good moral state
2. know God [repent of sin trusting Jesus]
