3-26-20, Dr Henry Morris, PhD -- The Christian life is entered by the new birth so that everyone who is genuinely born again must begin as a spiritual babe. The Lord Jesus said: “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3).
Furthermore, they should continue to be as innocent children insofar as “malice” (Greek kakia, literally meaning “wickedness” or “evil”) is concerned. In a believer this is an attribute should diminish, not grow.
The sad truth, however, is that many Christians remain spiritual babes in attributes that should characterize strong men and women of God. The Apostle Paul equated the term “babes in Christ” with carnality, characterized by “envying, and strife, and divisions” (1 Corinthians 3:1, 3). Paul also speaks of those Christians as “children” who are “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14). He urges each one to be “speaking the truth in love,” so that we “may grow up into him [Christ] in all things” (Ephesians 4:15).
Spiritual growth, of course, can come only through spiritual food and spiritual exercise. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).
Christians should become mature, both in understanding and in good moral behaviors. The last reference to growth in the Bible applies to each Christian:
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”

| What is Habeas Corpus and why does the US Justice Dept Want to End It? 3-30-20, On Saturday, March 21, 2020 the United States Dept of Justice (DOJ) made a request to the US Congress that effectively would end the legal right of habeas corpus. [A writ that a person may seek from a court to obtain immediate release from an unlawful confinement, as when the confinement has occurred through a means that violated the person's constitutional rights.] This particular writ protects citizens whether they have been lawfully detained: Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution states, “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus [HC] shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.” More here | If suspension of HC is granted, the requested authority would allow Attorney General William Barr to authorize the suspension of court proceedings during a national emergency. With the US struggling to address the suspected virus emergency of COVID-19, that has been declared a national emergency, some fear such authority could be abused to arrest and hold citizens indefinitely. The president, who oversees the DOJ, already has considerable authority during a state of emergency, but according to Article 1 - Congress, the legislative branch, has the authority to suspend HC, but not the executive branch [the president]. Morris, PhD -- In this psalm of praise, David expresses his confidence in the Lord, even though “the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh” (Psalm 27:2). In spite of the danger, he looks to God for safety. “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
Why did God preserve David? The answer is at least twofold.
First, David had a heart for God. “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4). “Thy face, LORD, will I seek” (Psalm 27:8). “Teach me Thy way, O LORD” (Psalm 27:11).
The second reason is the nature of God Himself. God, by His very nature, hates evil and He extends grace toward His own. He is pictured here as a warrior conquering the evil enemies of David. His laws forbid their actions; His gospel robbed these evildoers of their grip; His final kingdom will be rid of them. Until God’s justice, His gospel, and His purpose all fail, we can be sure that He will act.
In our text, David is hidden in the Lord’s “pavilion.” The word, which literally means a protective covering, was used for the tent of the commander-in-chief. Here, with the commander-in-chief, is the most fortified, guarded, and safe area of the battleground. If the pavilion falls, the battle is lost and God has failed. Hidden in His pavilion, we are as safe as He. He sees to it that we are not frightened (Psalm 27:13) amid the din of battle, and we shall share in the ultimate victory.

The Euphrates’ problems begin more than 1,000 miles upstream, near the river’s catchment area below the Taurus Mountains in eastern Turkey. In a headlong rush to generate electricity and create arable land, the Turkish government has been on a dam-building boom for two generations. In 1974 the Keban Dam was opened on the Upper Euphrates. The Ataturk Dam was finished in 1990. The ongoing Southeastern Anatolia Project, a $32 billion scheme to build 22 dams and 19 hydroelectric plants on both the Tigris and the Euphrates, will eventually provide nearly one-quarter of Turkey’s electricity. Syria, meanwhile, built the Tabqa Dam upstream from Raqqa in the 1970s, and added a few more dams on the Euphrates and its tributaries before the civil war ground development to a halt. Tigris and Euphrates [Revelation 16:12] Rivers are Drying Up
The water flow in the important Euphrates and Tigris Rivers has decreased as a result of Turkey's dams ... The Euphrates’ problems begin more than 1,000 miles upstream, near the river’s catchment area below the Taurus Mountains in eastern Turkey. In a headlong rush to generate electricity and create arable land, the Turkish government has been on a dam-building boom for two generations. In 1974 the Keban Dam was opened on the Upper Euphrates. The Ataturk Dam was finished in 1990. The ongoing Southeastern Anatolia Project, a $32 billion scheme to build 22 dams and 19 hydroelectric plants on both the Tigris and the Euphrates, will eventually provide nearly one-quarter of Turkey’s electricity. Syria, meanwhile, built the Tabqa Dam upstream from Raqqa in the 1970s, and added a few more dams on the Euphrates and its tributaries before the civil war ground development to a halt. Since the Turkish and Syrian dams began operating in the 1970s, the water flow into Iraq has dropped by nearly two-thirds.
