Coombes Book Summary and Excerpts Installment #5 First Cities to be Nuked Chapters 6 & 7 [pages 59-104]- Markers Explained Richard goes into great detail in explaining and dissecting words and the 33 'markers' and who may be the 'attackers' of Babylon/USA using Strong Concordance to examine and interpret the words of scripture with 12 points of analysis. Chapter 8, [page 104-110] - Attack & Results Jeremiah 50-51; Isaiah 13 & 47 As Jeremiah 51:12 tells us, we know that the attack will be 'sudden' and like an 'ambush;' and Isaiah 47:9 tells us it will be in one day. We know there will be some refugees because Jeremiah 50:28 speaks about fugitives fleeing to Zion/Israel to declare the Lord's vengeance. The destruction appears to be like a nuclear war or some form of space rocks/meteors/ites/asteroids striking only Babylon/USA. As we compare the Revelation chapters, it will seem evident that what happens is some sort of a military action and a perceived threat to the rest of the world. Rev 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, City? 'cities'=nation ... the whole land shall be set afire Jer 50:32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him. v 38 drought [is] upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it [is] the land of graven images, and they are mad upon [their] idols. Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. Sea, Rivers & Springs Dry? Jer 51:36 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry. Flooding? Jer 51:42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof. Total Devastation Forever - One thing is certain the devastation will be complete and total as the nation will never again be inhabitable. Is it due to radiation? possibly. Isa 13:19-20 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast [it] into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. Concluding: The attack/judgment may be a two-stage or two phase event; possibly we're confusing angelic activity with human activity. Phase one may be primarily a human action and phase two could be entirely angelic. Richard's research caused him to believe it's only angelic activity in both phases. He could not rule out the possibility however, of human involvement ... as Russia or some Middle Eastern nation from the north using terrorism and small nuclear suitcase bombs may be the attackers [pg 103].
