Researchers Attribute the Bible Account of the Sun Stopping for Joshua to an Annular Eclipse: In a paper published in the scientific Journal Astronomy and Geophysics in 2017, researchers from England’s Cambridge University confirmed a theory first suggested by Israel's Ben Gurion University researchers: that Joshua’s miraculous ‘stopping of the sun’ during a battle to allow the Israelites more time to defeat their enemies was actually an annular solar eclipse.

They even pinpointed the exact date – the afternoon of October 30, precisely 3,224 years ago when Joshua led the Israelites into battle with the armies of five kings in order to help the besieged Gibeonites, with whom they had signed a peace pact. In the battle as the Israelites began to gain the upper hand, Joshua prayed for the sun and the moon to stand still in order to complete the defeat. His prayers were answered. Joshua 10:13 -->

He added that the interpretation was supported by the fact that the Hebrew word meaning ‘stand still’ shares a root with a Babylonian word describing eclipses found in ancient astronomical texts.

The Ben Gurion study based its conclusion on how it was even described in the Book of Joshua as being an annular eclipse because the Bible specifies that the moon was also involved. [As described above, an annular eclipse occurs when the moon passes in between the sun and the earth.] They interpreted the word “dom,” which only occurs one other time in the Bible (Psalms 37:7), not as “stand still,” which is how it is traditionally read, but to mean “become dark.”
Their research revealed that there was only one total solar eclipse that occurred in the region between the years 1500-1000 BC, when the Israelites are believed to have entered the land. ​

The eclipse allowed them to date the battle precisely to 4:28 p.m. on October 30, 1207 BC.

With the help of the Merneptah Stele, an Egyptian artifact which independently confirms the Israelites’ presence in Canaan, historians have dated Joshua’s entry into the land to between 1500 and 1050 BC. Using complex calculations, the researchers determined that the only annular eclipse visible from the Canaan during that period took place in October of 1207 BC. The path of this eclipse passed directly over Canaan.

You Cannot Be 'Racist' Against White People
2-28-20, DailyDot -- New York Times did not fire the racist because of her series of old, now-deleted tweets, by Sarah Jeong where she had used the hashtag #CancelWhitePeople, contemplated the idea if whites were “only fit to live underground like groveling goblins” because of their propensity for sunburn, compared “dumbass f—–g white people” to dogs, and called “old white men lemmings.”

The paper's response to Jeong stands in sharp contrast to the whole host of other employees who have been fired by their companies for spewing hate-filled language. This year alone, both Papa John’s founder, John Schnatter and Roseanne Barr were fired after what was perceived as hate language. Schnatter for using the n-word, Rosanne for anti-Semitic comment. -->

<--The Times also made headlines when it fired reporter Norton Quinn after his old tweets surfaced using derogatory names for African-Americans and gays and also touting friendships with neo-Nazis. We know that what we believe dictates how we behave. Today, we are seeing the moral breakdown permeating the culture around us, and it is playing out with devastating consequences in our culture."
 
The new Barna Group poll revealed 58 percent of respondents said they look to themselves or other people when making moral decisions. Less than one third said that they look to God of the Holy Bible. A total of 58% of U.S. adults agreed that identifying moral truth is up to each individual; there are no constant moral absolutes applying everyone; and sadly, 48 percent of adults who identified as born-again Christians agreed.
 
The Cultural Research Center also found that the type of church the person attends often corresponded with their answer. People associated with a mainline Protestant congregation were most likely to rely upon themselves for moral wisdom (34%) Catholics were most likely to turn to other people (34%). Evangelical church attendees (72%), Pentecostal church attendees (70%) and born-again Christians (69%) were among the most likely to say God is the basis of all truth.
 
Political conservatives were also most likely to rely upon the Bible (40%), while moderates (17%) and liberals (11%) were least likely, instead relying on their own feelings, beliefs, and knowledge for moral direction.
 
Most troubling the moral views of the youngest generation indicate this downward moral trajectory and is likely to continue. Americans age 18 to 29 are least likely--only 15%--to turn to the Bible for moral guidance and instead look to themselves (29%) or to family (25%). This compares with about one-quarter of older Americans, including 23% of those ages 30 to 49, 25% of those 50 to 64, and 26% of those over 64. 
​However, a sizeable percentage of young people still look to their family for moral guidance. It's important for parents and other family members to look for opportunities to share moral truth.

'Gone With the Wind' fans march on social media to shame ban
8-28-18, USAToday -- The American movie "Gone With the Wind" is gone from a Memphis theater — despite a 34-year tradition — and now social media opponents are shaming its ban. The Orpheum Theatre canceled a long-running screening of GWTW because of "racially insensitive content" in the 1939 film, which won eight Oscars and was based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning 1936 book of the same name.

The film's fans, free-expression supporters and Dixie sympathizers are furious about the decision and shouting out on social media against "whiny" and PC-obsessed liberals they blame for the decision they said:

• "Gone With the Wind banned in Memphis, the alt-left claims its racism/racist. If you dont think these folks are lunatics then you are one." 
• "Puke-eating cowards. Why stop here? Ban any movie that has whites in it."  
• "The perpetual whiners never let up about slavery and how it is ignored. And then when you acknowledge it, they complain about that."

Why Orwell’s Book '1984' could be about  modern times

It speaks of totalitarianism and attempts to change the way people even think and remember history: Doublethink (holding two contradictory thoughts at the same time), Newspeak, the Thought Police, the Ministry of Love that deals in pain, despair and annihilates any dissident, the Ministry of Peace that wages war, the novel-writing machines that pump out pornography to buy off the masses: Orwell opened our eyes to how regimes worked as cameras were everywhere 'Big Brother' was watching 24/7.

National Guard soldiers found glass in pizza
6-11-20, FoxNews -- National Guardsmen while deployed to protect innocent citizens in Washington DC were served food with shards of glass baked into it. Some 1,500 troops from South Carolina, Indiana, Maryland and Tennessee were sent to the capital last week to reinforce 1,300 members of the DC National Guard deployed to assist law enforcement with restoring order, as George Floyd protests escalated into looting and arson for several nights.
When two of the South Carolina soldiers ordered pizza delivered to the Marriott Marquis Hotel, where they were staying, they found shards of glass baked inside. They did not eat the pizza and were not injured.

discovered glass in their pizza. The service members are okay. It was a single incident. Their command said the Soldiers were advised to file a report with local police department. From my understanding they chose not to.
