1-3-23, Jesus loves us even before we repent. In Luke 6 we see that Christ died for unthankful & evil sinners; not only such as were guilty & hateful; but those whose everlasting destruction would be to the glory of God's justice. Because of God's love, He will complete the purpose of His dying by saving all true believers to the uttermost. However, although not always preached - God does require faith and repentance - a change in our behaviors; honoring and obeying Him. Jesus said if you love Me, obey Me. 1-2-23, Jesus and apostles went without provisions so Christ told them to let down their nets to catch some fish ... although they had previously failed to catch anything. They obeyed and were so successful both ships began to sink. These fishermen's faith was greatly magnified!
We are likely, if we follow the guidance of Christ's word, to succeed even if we had so far failed. -- Benson Commentary, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/benson/psalms/119.htm 12-30-22, Before the Lord Jesus crucifixion and death He took Peter, James & John to Gethsemane telling them of His exceeding sorrow. He asked them to watch while He went to pray and was horrified at the sight of all the sins of the people coming upon Him; at the black storm of wrath that was gathering thick over Him; at the sword of justice which was brandished against Him. Because of His great love He accepted the curses of the righteous law, which like so many thunderbolts of vengeance were directed at Him. He must have been additionally sorrowful finding His faithful disciples three times asleep when He asked them to watch. Mark 14:33-38, Matthew 26:37
-- Gill's commentary: https://biblehub.com/commentaries/gill/mark/14.htm 12-29-22, The Lord Jesus was in the temple when He saw a poor widow. The narrative describes with vividness of contrast among the “many” who contributed much to the offering plate who must've been some of the Pharisees who devoured widows’ houses. [Matthew 23:14] This widow's house probably had been devoured and yet she showed by her act of contributing 'two mites' [equals about $2.00] that she kept the two great commandments, which the scribes themselves declared to be above all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
The Lord Jesus said: "This poor widow cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: for they cast in of their abundance; but she of her want... even all her living." Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4

12-27-22, What defiles a person? Our wicked thoughts, affections, words and actions, defile us and these only. As a corrupt fountain sends forth corrupt streams, so does a corrupt heart sending forth corrupt reasonings, corrupt appetites and passions. A clear understanding of the evil of sin that is disobedience to almighty God will cause a person to seek the grace of the Holy Spirit to keep down evil thoughts, behaviors and affections that may work within. -- Matthew Henry, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/mark/7-23.htm 12-26-22, Some of the Lord Jesus' wicked countrymen tried to prejudice the minds of people against Him saying: "Is not this the carpenter’s Son?” Although followers of Christ may have no respect or honor in their own towns or families, they should still content themselves doing the Lord's work. How much did these Nazarenes lose by obstinate prejudices against Jesus! May Divine grace deliver us from those who suffer unbelief. 12-25-22, It’s so wrong for people to pray to Mary. She knew her Son was the Messiah. Luke 1:46-48 12-24-22, Joseph was obliged by the emperor’s decree;— Where he then dwelt in Judea — Properly so called; unto the city of David, to go to his hometown called Bethlehem — The town where his ancestors had formerly been settled; because he was of the house of David. To be enrolled with Mary — Who also was a descendant of David: his espoused wife. Matthew 1:25 Joseph "knew not" [intimate relations] his wife until Jesus, her firstborn Son was delivered. Being great with child — It seems strange that Mary, in this condition, should undertake so great a journey [appx 80 miles]. Perhaps the order for the census required that the wives, as well as their husbands, should be present. Luke 2:1-6

The Islamic War on Christmas12-19-22, The Stream* -- One of the most odious aspects of the so-called War on Christmas is Western appeasement of Muslim sensibilities. Consider recent events in Sweden, where St. Lucia’s Day has been celebrated for centuries. According to Britannica: “The festival begins with a procession led by the St. Lucia designee, who is followed by young girls dressed in white and wearing lighted wreaths on their heads and boys dressed in white pajama-like costume singing traditional songs. The festival marks the beginning of the Christmas season in Scandinavia, and it is meant to bring hope and light during the darkest time of the year.” Not anymore. At St Mary’s School it’s been decided that the 40 or so children aged 7 to 10 who will take part in the Lucia procession will do so without the traditional elements of the celebration. The reason? Muslim children dropped out of last year’s celebration because their parents were uncomfortable with the connection and felt excluded in the Christmas celebration [Muslims reject Jesus Christ as God's Son**] … their parents were the ones who chose exclusion.

12-20-22, King Jesus will come again however this time not as a helpless innocent child .. in power and glory [Revelation 19:11] to judge the nations. He will say to believers [sheep on right] “ye blessed ones who belong to my Father inherit the kingdom prepared for you." Then say to them on the left [goats], "Depart from Me, ye cursed; I came to you also, but ye knew Me not: I was as one despised in your eyes. Ye pushed Me away and now I bid you away from Me; depart from Me, ye cursed!" Sadly, those who keep quiet will suffer the consequences.
Ezekiel 33:1-9 ; john 3:17-18, 8:44; 12-19-22, The Lord Jesus was asked about how relationships would be in Heaven. --Ellicott's Commentary: biblehub.com/commentaries/ellicott/matthew/22.htm God created man and woman ... Genesis 1:27, 5:1 The Lord Jesus speaks of marriage between a man and a woman ... Matthew 19:3-6 God designed humans to marry and make babies [Genesis 1:28] He gave mankind special physical 'features' to do so. A baby is made because God gave man a sperm that carries a different chromosome — an X or Y. While a man can't control which sperm will make it to the woman's egg, he will ultimately decide the sex of the baby. Biologically female people inherit an X chromosome from their father, and the other X chromosome from their mother. Male people always inherit their X chromosome from their mother. The X chromosome is about three times larger than the Y chromosome, containing about 900 genes, while the Y chromosome has about 55 genes. EZEKIEL'S VISION OF DRY BONES .... is reported in Ezekiel 37:1-10
The landscape is filled with bleached bones that Ezekiel is commanded to prophesy. As he does, the bones are restored to life = prophecy of the land of Israel. God alone could cause them to live. Skin and flesh covered them, the wind was then told to blow upon these bodies and they were restored to life. The wind was an emblem of the Spirit of God and represented His quickening powers. The vision was to encourage the desponding Jews; to predict both their restoration after the captivity and also their recovery from their present and long-continued dispersion. More here DRY BONES HERE: drybonesblog.blogspot.com 12-17-22, Until the day the risen Christ ascended back to heaven He showed Himself alive before many witnesses; even eating and drinking. Many infallible proofs in the forty days; He was even seen by over five hundred people at one time. Yes, we have hope beyond our earthly existence; born again faithful believers in Christ will rise again!
Matthew 16:21; 20:18-19; Mark 8:31; Luke 9:22; Acts 1:2-3, 11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, 13, 19 -- MacLaren Commentary, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/maclaren/1_corinthians/15.htm 12-16-22, The Lord Jesus was asked why He spoke to the crowds in parables. He said "hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand:" They heard but did not understand His words, even when He spoke in the plainest and most intelligible manner; therefore He spoke to them in this abstruse and parabolical way, that they might at least understand this way in parable or riddle.
Blessed are the eyes that see, ears that hear and you who understand. Matthew 13:10-16 -- Jamieson-Fausset Commentary, biblehub.com/commentaries/jfb/matthew/13.htm 12-15-22, We must be careful of our words. The Lord Jesus Christ closes this address in Matthew 12:34-37 to His malignant and wicked hearers by a solemn declaration that for these things God would bring them into judgment. Therefore, they who had spoken so viciously against Him could not escape. "Idle" word literally means vain, thoughtless, useless word that accomplishes no good. They had spoken wicked, injurious, false, malicious words and they would be judged.

If the reward is not granted in this life, it will be in the life to come. It's taken for granted that all who are disciples of Christ pray; you may as soon find a living man that does not breathe as a true Christian that does not pray. The Scribes & Pharisees were guilty of two great faults in prayer, vain-glory & vain repetitions; verily they have their reward. If the Lord does not give His people what they ask, it's because He knows they do not need it or it's not for their good. The most powerful intercessions are those made with groanings that cannot be uttered.
