Scripture for Today, 8-20-22: Virtuous Abigail

8-20-22, There was a very rich man, Nabal who rudely denied compensating David for protecting his flocks causing David to be enraged and planning to kill him and all of his people. Nabal had a virtuous wife [Proverbs 31:10], Abigail who took quick action sending provisions to head off the slaughter. With her ample supply of food and apologies David halts his plan. When Abigail returned home, she found her wicked husband drunk ... there's not a surer sign that a man has but little wisdom, nor a surer way to destroy the little he has, than drinking to excess. Next morning soon passes the laughter of the fool; especially when shocking news assails him! The Lord smote Nabal and he died. David thanked and praised God that he had been kept from killing Nabal and … he later married the lovely virtuous Abigail!
