Then the plane's door wouldn't shut - frozen apparently - preventing the aircraft from taking off. After sitting in freezing airplane for 16 hours - the passengers ended back in New Jersey! Passengers stranded in minus 30C [-22F] temperatures at frozen Canadian airport United Airlines Flight UA179 took off from New York on Saturday afternoon bound for Hong Kong but... They spent sixteen hours freezing going nowhere. United officials greeted the passengers upon their arrival BACK in Newark, NEW JERSEY WHERE THEY STARTED FROM 24 hours earlier. A United official said passengers will be provided with compensation for their inconvenience. "We absolutely understand the frustration.
