Alabama: Atheists From Wisconsin Demand School Stop On Campus Baptisms
6-15-19, On May 29, 2019 at Jordan-Wilcox Stadium, many bystanders witnessed, applauded and rejoiced as one by one, Washington County High School's eighteen football players walked into a feeding trough filled with water from a garden hose, as a pastor baptized the born again believers in Christ Jesus; he said: "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." [A staff member of Chatom Baptist Church, Chatom, Alabama memorialized it on camera.]
The atheist group from Wisconsin Freedom From Religion Foundation [FFRF] complained.
In an interview with Fox News, Jeremy Dys, deputy general counsel for First Liberty Institute, said that FFRF was wrong: “The Constitution never requires people of faith to hide themselves from public view. In fact, the ability of students and members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to freely exercise their faith in public is the very essence of the First Amendment.” More here
Baptism is a public announcement and enactment of our being dead to past sins and born again in the newness of life in Christ Jesus:
Romans 6:3-5 "Many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore,we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection."
Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:16; Luke 3:21-22; John 3:5; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8
