Idaho, Montana Rocked Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake

3-31-20, Weather.com -- A strong earthquake rocked southern Idaho and was felt by residents from Nevada to Montana. The quake was given a rating of 6.5 by the U.S. Geological Survey. It struck approximately 78 miles northeast of Boise Idaho at 5:52 p.m. local time on Tuesday, 3-31-20. The Boise Police Dept reported that they had not receive damage reports in the wake of the tremor. About 30 minutes after the main quake, a 4.8 magnitude aftershock was reported to the southeast. According to Earthquake Track, it was the second-strongest earthquake in the state of Idaho since records began. A 6.9 magnitude temblor on Oct. 28, 1983, known as the Borah Peak earthquake remains the state's largest on record.
