 A Real-Life Story of How Coronavirus Hysteria Oppresses People |
| 3-21-20, Robert Kirk, American Thinker* – In the USA some media commentators have noted the dishonest reporting of statistics to buttress the false claim that deaths from the coronavirus [COVID-19] are far in excess of mortality vs the common flu when in fact the opposite is likely the case. Others have noted that, like the common flu, the most vulnerable from COVID-19 is the elderly. For example the average age of those who have died in Italy is 81. One thing is clear - the panic and hysteria are at levels never before seen or witnessed by most people alive today. It seems like a time of war. I'm a lawyer and retired prosecutor and for the past ten years I run an event/wedding photography business in California. --> | <-- I particularly enjoy photographing couples on their special day. One such couple, Nathan and MacKenzie hired me to photograph their wedding in Riverside County expecting a gathering of 130 of their family and friends at the end of March 2020. They're in their twenties not in their eighties. The venue reserved is a ten-acre oasis in California. On March 17, 2020 Nathan called saying the wedding and reception, for which all the invitations had gone out and for which they had planned for over a year, was canceled. They'd received an "Order of the Health Officer of the County of Riverside, California" stating "no gatherings of 10 or more in Riverside County". According to the decree: "Violation of ... this Order is a crime punishable by fine, imprisonment or both." Government officials and homeless bums were exempt. |
| Nathan & Mackenzie decided to go forward with the wedding witnessed by a small gathering of nine. The assembly being bride, groom, pastor, Mom, Dad on both sides, best man and maid of honor. No other close relatives or longtime friends would be there to share and witness one of the most momentous days of their lives. Being a lawyer, I had to read the entire text of the order finding the totalitarian geniuses at the Riverside County Health Dept tried to include every contingency to protect the public's health and safety; --> | <-- in Paragraph 2: “It is further ordered that even for gatherings below this [10], if a minimum social distance of six feet between attendees cannot be maintained ... the gathering is prohibited.” Heaven forbid their pastor at the conclusion of their vows blurted out: "Nathan, you may kiss the bride!" and he leaned within the prohibited six-foot barrier and did it! Should that violation occur with a representative of law enforcement checking in and witness the violation; would Nathan, MacKenzie and their co-conspirator pastor be arrested, fined and imprisoned for the flagrant violation of the county health officer's order!? |

We are not over-reacting, the press is overreacting. It makes me furious. The press should not be reporting medical stories as though they know how to report it. If we have a pandemic, I won’t know how to tell that we’re actually having a pandemic because everything is an 'emergency.' People that are infectious disease specialists, the CDC, the epidemiologists, need to take this very seriously. The press needs to shut up because you’re more likely to die of influenza right now.”
