Redding, 'Carr Fire' California destroyed over 650 homes on 100,000 acres
7-29-18, Fox News -- Authorities say a massive blaze in Northern California has destroyed more than 650 homes and 100,000 acres. Two fires about 100 miles northwest in Mendocino County have consumed 39 square miles.
The massive blaze began on Monday, July 23, 2018. Cal Fire officials said "Carr Fire" currently threatens more than 5,000 structures. The fire took out neighborhoods in Redding, a city about 230 miles north of San Francisco.

7-26-18, ABCNews -- A 32-year-old man has been accused of setting five fires in California. Brandon N. McGlover of Temecula has been charged with five counts of arson to wildland. The Cranston Fire, as of early Thursday, 7-26-18 was only 5 percent contained and spanned almost 5,000 acres in the San Bernardino National Forest. The heat wave in California exacerbated the fire's spreading.
