According to the Independent China's ruling Communist Party only recognizes Buddhism, Islam, Taoism, Protestantism and Catholicism [apparently not considered "Christian"]. Atheist China is putting the clamps on the distribution of the Holy Bible, by having the biggest online retailers remove the holy book from their websites. Also Christian bookstores have been warned that "foreign" Christian books published from outside China should no longer be sold. As far back as 1199 AD Pope Innocent III of the Roman Catholic Church Banned the Laity from Possessing the Holy Bible The laity would be able to discern the truth from God's Word for themselves. The truth was at odds with Catholic teaching. Dissent flourished with the availability of the Bible, and so persecution of people called 'heretics' increased. It was an attempt by the RC church to maintain control and assert her presumed authority; this history is well documented.
