Joe Biden Wants to Bring High-speed Rail to California -- Again
6-13-20, After twelve long miserable expensive years, the California High-Speed Rail Authority has given up it's quest to build a bullet train from Los Angeles to San Francisco. It all began Oct. 2, 2008, when Los Angeles Times ed­it­or­i­al board en­dorsed Pro­pos­i­tion 1a, which would provide $9.95 bil­lion in bonds to build the high-speed rail line. $77-billion later the bullet train has been an embarrassment and has been plagued by problems almost from the start. Although it was supported and funded by the Fed Govt under the Obama administration that pushed high-speed rail nationwide and committed billions of dollars in funding to the project. In Feb 2019 Calif Gov Newsom plug on the project.

Former Democrat vice president Joe Biden is proposing to restore California’s now-defunct high-speed rail project. He  has called for “the construction of an end-to-end high-speed rail system that will connect the coasts” – paid for by repealing the Trump tax cuts.

​Biden formerly championed high-speed rail with Obama as part of the failed 2009 “stimulus” package. 

The new Biden document states: “With respect to passenger rail: He’ll start by putting the Northeast Corridor on higher speeds and shrinking the travel time from D.C. to New York by half – and build in conjunction with it a new, safer Hudson River Tunnel...

President Trump promptly demanded the federal money for the train be returned, and canceled the future $1 billion.
Trump demands California return $3.5 billion in funds for 'Bullet Train Project'
2-14-19, CNBC -- President Trump said, “California has been forced to cancel the massive bullet train project after having spent and wasted many billions of dollars [77]. They owe the Federal Government three and a half billion dollars. We want that money back now. Whole project is a ‘green’ disaster!”
However, Newsom responded to Trump by calling it “fake news. We’re building high-speed rail, connecting the Central Valley and beyond.”
