Jul 25, 2018 · California plastic straw law punishes restaurant servers with jail time... illegal for restaurants servers to give guests plastic straws unless requested. The Santa Barbara ordinance cites penalties from the city’s municipal code for a “fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months.” [Sanctuary city for illegal migrants] Also Seattle, WA: bans plastic straws and fines businesses $250 per offense.
