The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, said Mr. Brewer was gunned down at the Waffle House on Newbury Road in Gainesville, located about four miles from the University of Florida campus. Reportedly the killer was 25-year-old Ezekiel Hicks who got into a verbal argument with Brewer, because his lady friend didn't receive $20. so he went to his car got his gun went back into the restaurant and shot Mr Brewer in the head killing him.
