![]() Ten Days Before Pres Putin's Visit to France A Drone flies over Macron's holiday home and only one day after Venezuela Assassination Attempt on President Maduro 8-7-19, Fort de Brégançon, a medieval fortress on an islet off the French Mediterranean coast, has been the official retreat of the President of France. Less than a day after the Venezulean President Nicholas Maduro was attacked by drone ... a drone was spotted over Macron's home ... both incidents involving Macron and Maduro beg the question of whether current security measures to protect global Heads of State are equipped and ready to deal with drone warfare and other forms of terrorism by joystick. ![]() 8-20-19, Express.Co.Uk – On Aug 19, 2019, Pres Macron & Pres Putin met at Macron's official holiday island residence in Fort Bregançon in southern France. The French leader is keen to show Moscow it’s not ostracized despite being kicked out of the G7 after its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. However, at the press conference as they took questions the Russian President was quick to dismiss the importance of the G7's existence - President Putin said: “Now on G7? Well, there is no G7. How can we go back to an organization that doesn’t exist? Today is G7, but we cannot go back to G8 because G8 doesn’t exist. There is no G8. But we never say no. It was Russia’s turn to host the G8 and our partners didn’t come. Well, they are welcome anytime. Please, even as G7. But there are other international institutions that play a significant role in international affairs. Take the G20. You have big economic powerhouses like China, India and many others. They count for almost 90 percent of the global economy so we really value these full format platforms. And that’s why we actively cooperate.” The French President appeared to be cringing at the obvious dig launched by the Russian leader over his exclusion to the international forum. It's claimed that Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed forces have killed around 13,000 people since 2014. …Russia denies the accusation saying that Ukraine is not honoring commitments under the ceasefire agreement. One French spokesperson said that “Pres Macron's decision to invite the Russian leader was a very useful attempt to get France, and possibly even Europe, out of an impasse and to end a sterile war of opposing positions that’s been going on for years." Pres Putin’s visit came days before world leaders, including US Pres Trump and the new UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, gather for the August 24-26, 2019 Group of Seven (G7) summit in the southwestern French town of Biarritz.
