Although Illegal "migrants" made up less than 2% of the German population in 2016, they accounted for 8.6% of all crime in Germany

Compared to 2015, the number of migrants suspected of criminal acts in 2016 has risen by 52.7 percent [174,438]. Crimes that only immigrants can commit, such as illegal entry to the country, have been taken out from the statistics. The annual police report shows that there were total of 616,230 crime suspects of foreign origin last year.
