Flesh Eating Bacteria, Earthquakes & Super Wasps Florida: Grandmother Dies From Flesh Eating Bacteria Infection 7-1-19, Fox News -- Lynn Fleming, 77 yr old grandmother was visiting Coquina Beach, Florida. Two weeks after suffering a small cut her leg while walking along the coast on Anna Maria Island, Florida, she died. Her leg became infected with necrotizing fasciitis, commonly called flesh-eating bacteria. The original cut on her shin happened on June 14, 2019; within two days the small abrasion caused her great pain. On the third day the severity of her wound escalated her leg had become red and swollen she went to an urgent care facility received a tetanus shot and a prescription for an antibiotic. Later that day she was unconscious and her shin was black. She was hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis ... her leg was surgically removed ... but she still died within two weeks of original abrasion.
