  9-1-16, In Obama's America, celebrating America is not now politically correct -- whether it’s public schools banning the U.S. flag or professional football players refusing to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner. We’ve seen protesters burn and stomp on our flag while politicians bicker about whether the USA is still a most exceptional country.
But in Lake Michigan, Michigan, The Mona Shores Sailors High School football team hosted the fourth annual military appreciation game -- a celebration honoring the armed forces as well as first responders of our courageous police. There were tanks and helicopters and marching bands and speeches. They even landed an Army chopper at Stadium. Kids passed the hat raising money for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Folks arrived at the game with American flags wearing red/white/blue. Mona Shores Sailors went on to lose their season opener to Zeeland West 32-28 — but THIS event was about more than touchdowns. It's good to see sincere expressions of patriotism, especially among young people. It grieves me when I see pictures of our American flag being burned and stomped on. The people who do that should live in a country for a while where they don't have the freedoms we enjoy here. It might teach them to appreciate our flag and the heritage that our forefathers fought and died for. Comments are closed.
