4-8-20, Front Page – For the best … for the nation and the people; Benny Gantz, the former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief-of-Staff (2011-2015), displayed a measure of leadership recently - he pulled out of the Blue & White party choosing to be true to his constituents rather than to his former partisan leftist partners, Lapid and Ya’alon.
Currently Benny Gantz is being eviscerated by the left-leaning Israeli media and accused of betrayal. In joining the unity government, Gantz has abandoned the radical liberals in Israel's politics. In making this decision, he must have considered his lack of executive experience in government.

In joining Netanyahu as deputy Prime Minister or Defense or Foreign Minister, he will be able to accumulate needed experience and build relationships under the tutelage of Bibi Netanyahu.

As co-leader with Netanyahu in a government under the coronavirus emergency, Gantz will gain necessary exposure and credibility as a partner in defeating the virus. This would clearly mark him as the rightful successor to Netanyahu. Under the Netanyahu-Gantz rotation agreement, Netanyahu will serve as prime minister until September, 2021 when Gantz will take over as prime minister. While the two sides agree on the rotation, there are still unresolved issues in the allocation of different authorities and departments within the Israeli government.

Apparently the corona virus has accomplished what three elections were unable to do. Gantz concluded correctly that the health and safety of the nation trumps political ideology and personal ambitions; Gantz made the right decision for his political future and the future of the Israeli people.
