Obama's Three Investigators: Spying on Trump

Spygate: Obama Admin Brennan, Clapper, Comey & the Dossier
 Investigation into the role former CIA Director John Brennan and other Obama intelligence officials played in promoting the salacious and unverified Steele 'dossier' on Candidate & President Donald Trump -- including whether Brennan perjured himself in public testimony about it. Recently Attorney General William Barr stated: “The thing that’s interesting about this is that this was handled at a very senior level... It was not handled in the ordinary way that investigations or counter intelligence activities are conducted....”

5-25-19, * – On June 23, 2017 the Washington Post published a 7700+ word article that detailed the highly compartmentalized nature of the original Russia interference investigation and the manner in which other U.S. intelligence agencies were deliberately kept in the dark:  [Summarized and rearranged into chronological order – Ed.] 

1. In the summer of 2016, CIA Director John Brennan convened a “secret task force at CIA headquarters composed of several dozen analysts and officers from the CIA, the NSA and the FBI; so secretive it functioned as a “sealed compartment” hidden even from the rest of the U.S. intelligence community; a unit whose workers were all made to sign additional non-disclosure forms.
   
2. In August 2016 another layer of secrecy was added when the video feed from the White House Situation Room was cut off during the meetings. The feed - normally only for video and not audio - is usually kept on so that senior aides can see when a meeting takes place. The blacked-out screens were seen as an ominous sign among lower-level White House officials who were largely kept in the dark about the Russia deliberations even as they were tasked with generating options for retaliation against Moscow. 
   
3. They worked exclusively for two groups of “customers:”
   1.     Obama
   2.     Specialists at the CIA, NSA and FBI who took direction from the task force on where to aim their intelligence collection on Russia [fewer than 14 senior officials]. 
      

4. The January 6, 2017 U.S. Intelligence Community report falsely alleged Russian interference in the presidential race claimed the report was authored by all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies, but it was only four [their aides were barred from the meetings]:

1.      Brennan, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency [CIA]
2.      James Clapper, United States Director of National Intelligence
3.      Loretta Lynch, Attorney General
4.      James Comey, Director of FBI 
   

5. Later the circle added Vice President Biden and others. 
6.  Agendas sent to Cabinet secretaries [arrived in envelopes that subordinates were not supposed to open]:

1.      John F. Kerry at the State Department
2.     Ashton B. Carter at the Pentagon 

On Oct 25, 2017 Clapper conceded [during a CNN interview] that the IC assessment “It’s what the dossier said and the extent to which it was — it’s corroborated or not. We had some concerns about it from the standpoint of its sourcing which we couldn’t corroborate. But at the same time, some of the substantive content, not all of it, but some of the substantive content of the dossier, we were able to corroborate in our Intelligence Community assessment which from other sources in which we had very high confidence to it.” It was Clapper’s agency that released the Intelligence Community report. 

1. Reportedly on May 15, 2019 it became public that Comey, Clapper and Brennan were feuding over Steele’s dossier and IC report. Who was responsible that it was to be utilized as evidence in the Russia collusion investigation. [Note: The dossier was produced by the controversial Fusion GPS firm and was paid for by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democrat Natl Committee (DNC) via the Perkins Coie Law Firm.
2. Reportedly a former unnamed CIA official told Fox News [clearly defending Brennan] that it was Brennan and Clapper who opposed the push by Comey to include the dossier charges in the ICA.
3. On May 15, 2019 Fox News, Martha MacCallum’s show former GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy said that “Comey has a better argument than Brennan, based on what I’ve seen.” [He also directed the investigators to look at emails from Dec 2016.] 
4. In May 2017 testimony before the House Intelligence Comm. Brennan testified: “not in any way used as the basis for the intelligence community’s assessment” that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election. 
5. In a March 5, 2018, letter to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said Adm. Rogers informed the committee that a two-page summary of the dossier — described as “the Christopher Steele information” — was “added” as an “appendix to the ICA draft,” and that consideration of that appendix was “part of the overall ICA review/approval process.” 
6. In Dec 2018, Comey outright contradicted Brennan’s testimony about the dossier before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees. He said that internally, the FBI referred to the dossier as “crown material.”  Gowdy asked him: “So do you recall whether any quote, crown material or dossier material was included in the IC assessment?” Comey replied, “Yes.”

The Gateway Pundit reported:5-26-19, The report includes little mention of Anthony Weiner’s laptop emails other than to mention that a meeting was scheduled to get a search warrant to request the emails on October 27th, 2016. The emails were the suspected cause for Comey’s email to Congress on October 28th, 2016, announcing that the Hillary email scandal was being reopened. However, per text messages between Strzok and Page, the FBI knew about the emails in September 2016 and had sent a team to New York to review the emails at that time. [The Weiner emails may be what the Democrats are most fearful of being released to the public.] More here
