Why Do the Wicked Prosper?
Jeremiah 12:1; Job 21:7
1-20-21, Why do the wicked prosper? When will God deal with them? So many good people work hard and seem to get nowhere while the wicked cheat and prosper. Just because we can’t see God's righteous judgment now; doesn’t mean that God isn’t dealing with them. We must trust God; be patient and watch.
The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah’s prayer resonates with everyone. Why do the wicked continue to succeed in their wickedness? Wicked 'kings/leaders' are lifted up growing successful while the righteous lawful hard working are kicked aside. Jeremiah was talking about religious leaders of his day. They said all the spiritual things, but God was absent from their minds. Why does God permit it?
When we are confronted with leadership that is wicked - perhaps we should pray as Jeremiah prayed ... that God would pull them out of the flock and send them to the slaughter. While this may be necessary, we should also pray that God will bring them to repentance that they will be saved as they turn to the Savior Jesus Christ.
God desires that no one perish, but they come to repentance. We should also look within checking our own relationship with the Lord. Has God tested us and found us faithful? Are we being obedient to His word? Do our actions back up our words? Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 11:1; Revelation 14:12
The day will come when all evil will be judged.
