Heavens and New Jerusalem  God called the firmament HEAVEN On the second day, God made the firmament dividing the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: He called the firmament Heaven. On the fourth day God said, 'Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night' ... He made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also. Genesis 1:7-8, 14-19 This celestial location is the atmosphere that surrounds the earth, the place where clouds exist and birds, along with jets, fly in every day. Jeremiah 4:25 confirms where this place is located. The place were airplanes and birds fly in we call SKY. The book of Revelation states this fact when it says, " . . . birds that fly in the midst of HEAVEN . . ." (Revelation 19:17).  The second 'heavenly' place is where our moon, the sun, the planets in our solar system, distant stars and galaxies, and the rest of the universe is located.  The third heaven is where God probably dwells: Job 22:12 "Is not God in the height of heaven? And see the highest stars, how lofty they are!" And this is probably where resurrected born again believers dwell also. What about the New Jerusalem? The Apostle John had a vision while he was banished to the Isle of Patmos: "I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. v16 The city lieth foursquare [1500 square/cube], and the length is as large as the breadth: The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal."
