Why Study Bible Prophecy?
1-3-18, * -- Is Bible prophecy important? Following are just a few questions bombarding today's Christians when it comes to the study of Bible prophecy.
The mantra we often hear is that Bible prophecy is irrelevant to the Gospel; it’s unfortunate, because this false image of Bible prophecy has succeeded in turning many Christians away from the Gospel altogether. Although recent History is marked by many “date setters” and those who incorrectly declared a certain time frame for the second coming of the Lord Jesus; it’s no reason to ignore Bible prophecy. Many of those proclaim to be born again believers in the Lord Jesus are in reality wolves in sheep’s clothing. What does the Bible say about prophecy? "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach..” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 The word "all" includes Bible prophecy. Prophecy is intended to direct our attention to the Messiah Jesus Christ. Revelation 19:10 The Messianic prophecies fulfilled by the birth, ministry, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth authenticate His claim to be the one true Christ. Studying Bible prophecy is an essential aspect of proper Christian living. The Lord Himself expected His disciples to carefully examine the Word of God and to be prepared for His return Matthew 24:42. Jesus expected the people of His day to fully recognize and eagerly await the time of His first coming. As we patiently await His second coming, He holds our generation to the same standard of accountability. [..snip] Scripture admonishes mankind that to be ashamed of the Lord Jesus will cause their name not to appear in His book. Psalm 69:28; Luke 9:26; Revelation 20:15 In conclusion, Bible prophecy is the most powerful witness to the divinity of Christ. We must not listen to those who claim that Bible prophecy distracts us from the true Christian mission. Quite to the contrary, all Bible prophecy points to Jesus Christ Himself. *Excerpted and adapted – full original message from By Britt Gillette, End Times Bible Prophecy, http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=1910 Comments are closed.
