Praise the Lord
2-2-18, Arthur Schoonveld -- It is good to praise the LORD … proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night. Psalm 92:1-2
Psalm 92 is an invitation to begin and end each day by giving thanks to God for His love and faithfulness. Every morning we should thank Him for His kindness & guidance. And every evening rejoice in all His faithfulness.
Unfortunately, there are some who do not look forward to a new day. It’s easy to be thankful when everything is going our way. What if our health is failing or we're confined to our home? Some people spend their days in bed or just unable to do the things they they've always loved doing. How do we give thanks when our lives seem to be nothing but disappointments?
A friend showed me that it is possible to give thanks regardless of our current circumstances. Everytime I went to visit him, he would say, “God is so good.” That was his testimony, even though he had been confined to his bed for ten years. When I asked him how he could say that, he said, “When I became ill, I was bitter. I used to ask, ‘Why me?’ But God’s grace has made it possible for me to thank Him every day for His faithfulness. He provides me with strength and I am grateful for my caregivers and my clear mind. I'm thankful that He cares for you too, Arthur, that you come to see me."
If it seems almost impossible to thank God, ask Him for grace to learn to be appreciative of small things and thank Him even for difficult circumstances and the strength He gives us to journey on through it. In Romans 8:39 the apostle Paul explains: Nothing can “separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” If we know the Lord Jesus as our Savior, we know where we're going, even if the journey may seem rough ... that's a good reason to be thankful!
