God warned Adam and Eve that disobedience against Him would lead to certain death—physical, spiritual and eternal (Genesis 2:17). But when our first parents incurred that debt, although they were punished by being banned from the garden, God showed mercy and promised to send a deliverer. Death would not have power over them forever; Jesus came to save all repentant sinners. (Genesis 3:15; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57).
