 | John 6:1-13 reports the crowd’s reaction. “Surely this is the Prophet Who is to come into the world.” Jesus, knowing they would attempt to make Him king; He again withdrew by Himself to a mountain (John 6:14-15). They didn’t understand that Jesus needed to fulfill His role as the obedient servant first by dying for their sins - and before His future destiny as King of Kings. There are those who believe the miracle of loaves and fishes is only one event; but clearly there are two. On a different occasion Jesus miraculously fed 4000 [Decapolis, Mark 7:31] Jesus speaks of it only in two Gospels: Matthew 15:29-39; Mark 8:1-10. There they found 7 loaves and a few small fish among the crowd. Again Jesus made it sufficient for all and there were 7 baskets full left over. Our Lord Jesus is the loving compassionate Savior of the World. He came to save us from our sin giving eternal life to all who repent turning to Him – and He also cares if we’re hungry. *** |
