4-29-22, We are told in seven examples, in Matthew 6 & 13, what the Kingdom of Heaven is ‘like.’ The last illustration is that “the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net.” The net in this case is not the hand-net of Matthew 4:18, but a great drag-net which drew in a larger haul of fish. The teaching ends in an easy lesson - as in the parable of the “Tares” [weeds Matthew 13:24]. The main thoughts are, (1) the mingling of the evil with the good in the visible kingdom of Christ on earth and (2) the ultimate separation of the two that each may receive according to Divine law. Therefore, those who are “bad” are so by the result of their own will by no acceptance of Christ nor repentance of their sin and obedience to Him.
