Texas Church Wipes Out Medical Debt for Over 4,000 USA Veterans and Their Families
4-6-18, The Texas Covenant Churches has raised money for debt forgiveness ultimately eliminated over $10 million in medical debt for over 4,000 US military veterans and families.
Covenant Church, under the leadership of Pastor Stephen Hayes, donated $100,000 to RIP Medical Debt. The group, a debt collector turned debt forgiver, acquires unpaid medical debt at greatly reduced rates and then forgives it.
Every $1 donated to the group translates to $100 in debt paid off. A total of $10,551,618 in medical debt for 4,220 families in the Dallas area was erased. Not only is the debt itself gone, but also any negative impact that debt had on their credit history; it also is wiped clean.
