John 15:1-6 [1]  5-18-17, In this modern world we're hearing alot of fake news - it's a real problem. In the various 'religions' there's also a fake 'gospel.' Many teach that by our own efforts of good works we can be saved from hell. That's a fake teaching; God's word tells us that: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9 [2] Comparing artificial house plants to genuine alive plants; we know that when live plants are nurtured properly they thrive. Genuine living plants grow and change. There is pleasure in the caring for them because they yield beauty unlike fake plants that are stagnant.  Often “Church people” are like these plants; many people are falsely taught that they - on their own in their dead flesh - can produce 'fruit.' However, without Jesus, we are stagnant. We play at looking nice, but we have no firm foundation or nourishment to help us grow or spread God's good news to others. But when we are rooted in the true Vine that is Jesus Christ ... we thrive. We are nurtured in God's Word and in 'pruning' trials; by trials - our faith blossoms causing us to produce good 'fruit.'
