Men of the Bible: King Jehoshaphat The fourth King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, was successor to his father, Asa. He was thirty-five years old when he began his reign that lasted twenty five years. There came a time the King faced vast armies of enemies coming from Edom. He knew he could not defeat them, so he and the people fasted and prayed to almighty God for help. God chose singers to go out before Jehoshaphat’s army singing and praising God, “Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever.” As they sang, God set up an ambush!  God said, "Hearken all Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem and thou king Jehoshaphat. Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude;
for the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow go ye down against them: ...Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still and see the salvation of the Lord, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not: for the Lord will be with you." 2 Chronicles 20:14-17 Comments are closed.
