Great Men of the Bible: Samson![]() There was a man named Manoah who honored and worshipped the one true God of Israel. One day an angel came to his wife informing her she would have a son who would save Israel from the Philistines. There were conditions however, he must not consume alcohol and never cut his hair. His name was Samson. He grew to be a super strong man, but he had one weakness ... a harlot named Delilah who lived in Gaza [Judges 16:1]. He wanted her for his wife and she tricked him into revealing the source of his strength ... one day as Samson slept ... she cut his hair. The wicked Philistines captured him, gouged out his eyes and made him a slave. Well, one day - although Samson was now blind, his hair had grown back and he was strong once again ... he was placed between the pillars of their temple 'Dagon' when Samson prayed and pushed imploding the entire building sacrificing his own life. Samson prayed, "O Lord God, remember and strengthen me, I pray Thee, only this once,
O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, one with his right hand and of the other with his left. Let me die with the Philistines! He bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people that were therein." Judges 16:28-30 Comments are closed.
