Wicked People of the Bible: The Woman Jezebel
Jezebel wasn’t just an immoral woman; she was a butchering murderous monster. Being a worshiper of Baal (a devil) she determined to convert her nation-by-marriage (she was a Phoenician princess married to the Jewish king) Ahab. In order to do so, she butchered as many Jewish prophets as she could. Jezebel wasn't content to murder the prophets to stop them spreading their “wickedness” she sacrificed babies to her god of stone to appease him.
Elijah – her chief protagonist at least has a chance for vengeance and eventually slaughtered the 450 prophets of Baal and Jezebel came to a ruinous end:
Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi said:
"Throw her down from the window and they did; and horses trode her under foot. And after awhile he said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter. They went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. So when they told Jehu, he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel." 2 Kings 9:33-36
"They have built also the high places of Baal,
to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal."
