How can we determine the identity of this future Babylon? We examine the scriptural texts provided to us through the prophecies from Jeremiah & Isaiah. We analyze them for identifying characteristics that may describe Babylon in some way. There are 33 identifying markers that have given us descriptive aspects of this future Babylon so it's recognizable today. [Assuming of course that the time is near for the fulfillment of these prophecies.] The Bible talks about a dominant city or nation in the last days that is a major center of commerce that will be destroyed. Many believe it’s referring to the Vatican in Rome; they're wrong … the area of the Vatican is surrounded by 7 hills. (Rev 17:9) There are no mountains in Rome. To hold that view you basically ignore 98% of the scripture referring to it and hold to only ONE verse about the seven hills that's easily discredited.
