Psalm 56:8; 69:27-28, 139:16; Malachi 3:16; Luke 10:20; Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 17:8, 20:15, 21:27
Revelation 20:14, 15 "Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the ... the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur ..."
Note: in the hymn, lines similar to verse 3 found in Akdamut, an 11th-century Jewish poem. Frederick Lehman reported that the English rendition included in his song had “been found penciled on the wall of a patient’s room in an insane asylum after he had been carried to his grave.” While it is only supposition that the man was the one who translated or adapted the words to leave us these well-known lines, if the account is true it shows in any case that he highly esteemed the message.
